shouldnt make any difference at the age of the car it will still go on engine size not emissions my old import was 95 and imported in 05 still m plate and still old tax bands which are either 1.4 and below and 1.5 and above if i remember correctly

Vehicle tax will be payable in line with the vehicle’s first registration date in the UK. Even if the vehicle has been previously registered abroad, the date it's first registered in the UK will determine the amount of vehicle tax that’s payable. Additionally, DVLA will allocate a vehicle registration number appropriate to the vehicle’s first registration abroad
i have just got a 95 wrx and pay 185
but what about the future according to this i will have to pay tax as if car is a 2008 model bullsh t

i would guess unless your really unlucky and it get put on a new age plate your not paying the new bands
however i have seen although for some reason in scotland classics with 52...53..04 etc plates although obviously NOT a car of that age????
mine have both been registered but been put on m and n plates respectively so cant see a problem

I was under the impression that all new age jap imports come under a different rule and is maximum 210 a year though am probably wrong, just what I was lead to believe. A ll classics though 185 as far as I know

any jap import over 10 years at time of import (even today) will not need a esva and therefore there wil be no emmisions data for it and therefore it will banded as PLG, i.e 185 per year.
