Hi Chris and welcome to SN.

Re - the dump valve, don't waste your money mate they do nothing. If i were you, save your money and put it towards other more useful mods.

VTA DV's also have a bad habit of messing up you fueling, and can cause damage. Don't do it!

You already HAVE a d/v, the one Subaru fit, which is a recirculating type.
VTA valves do mess up the fuelling and can lead to poor running and even engine damage.

I don't! I don't think, can't bloody hear it anyway!

Save ya money and buy a Blitz Nur Spec R System, they sound rude mate.

Cheapo dump valves on ebay go bloody loud if you take them apart and cut the spring down

A standard turbo has a recirc dv fitted. It vents the dumped air back into the intake.
Their fitted to stop the turbo stalling on gear changes, letting off etc.

how much are the blitz exhausts? are baileys dv's ne good? i only drive the car round at evenings n weekends, probs few hundred a month. wen should the cambelt be done? think it was done at 60, or weneva the service book says. also how much performance would it gain from ss manifold, sports cat, blitz nur spec, induction and remap?

Cambelt at 60000 is good.
I had a Bailey dv, hated it! Hence why i don't like vta's.
I wouldn't fit stainless headers at that level, they can actually hinder the spool and performance.Ported standard headers would be better.
You can't re-map your model, you'll have to change it to an apexi, simtek etc, or have the ESL live fitted/mapped as i did. This is the cheaper(and in many ways better) option at 550+vat fitted/mapped. Get the map sensor changed too if you have the old type, as it won't let you run more than 1.1 bar.
With the ecu, map sensor and exhaust options you stated you'd be good for 280-300.

There are loads of good places to get the work done, all depends where you are really.
Fitting the exhaust/filter yourself will save some cash, also, a second hand exhaust would too. They come up on hear a lot, look in the for sale section.
You could probably get the lot done for £1000-£1200.
The sports cat will add money, £100-£200 more than a de-cat down pipe.
ESL Live ecu fitted/mapped-- £640
Map sensor--------------------£60
Secondhand exhaust/de-cat -£300
Panel filter---------------------£30
Total ---------------------------£1030

Add £100-£200 for a sports cat if fitted instead of the de-cat.

Jap Performance Parts : Home usually have a few complete Blitz Nur Spec R systems in stock at an okay price.

You could search eBay for a complete system but they are a bit pricey now as they are getting a bit rare. In terms of sound, you can't get better, my mate described my car as "Rolling Thunder" - that should give you an idea of what it's like.

In my RA it's a bit too loud due to the car not having much sound proofing and weight to stop the sound but it can be addictive - low down it sounds like a V8 on tickover, blip the throttle and the rumble becomes a roar, with the turbo on song you get a mental bark.

As for dump-valves, yeah each to their own - personally I love em because in days of cossies etc I always felt a turbo and dv went hand in hand but agree with the posters, if you are going for one (spend the money on something decent) then you need a remap or your likely to bugger up your engine in the long run.
