if only the UK discounts were same as in the US, we would be all driving around in 08 STI's!!
And for those who dont know, some US dealers were offering $7,000 off list price and 63... yes 63 months 0% finance!!!

Havent been offered good discount but the dealer told me that subaru gonna stop making the STI!
Want to get away from the boy racer image. Which is fair enough but isnt it STI thats got them where they are now??
Talk about cutting your nose off to spit your face!

Offered 2K off, so went to Iain Litchfield and got a Euro/UK parallel import.
Same spec as 330S but with 300BHP engine. £24.9K. 355BHP engine upgrade + AST susp upgrades + lots of bushes,, rear a/r bar, front u/c brace, uprated strut brace, bib spoiler, fog lights (think thats it) brought it up to £30K.
Excellent service and communication. Great set up, next to Powerstation.
No probs getting insurance. Subaru warranty + Litchfield engine warranty.
Getting 31-34 mpg on motorway, 29-30 mpg everywhere else except in city traffic 18mpg
Due to changing currency exchanges, price for same spec car is now higher.
But very much worth a look.
Stan
Now on S mode - consumption somehow seems to have dropped to 25mpg, wonder why

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I bet after you left the showroom the saleman threw his right arm in the air and did a big whaaaaahooooo whilst doing a little jig,

NO THE SALESMAN DID NOT THROW HIS ARMS IN THE AIR.MY CAR WAS THE ONLY ONE HE HAD AND WAS IN THE SHOWROOM SO IF HE SOLD IT THEN HE WOULD NOT HAVE ANYTHING FOR CUSTOMERS TO LOOK AND SIT IN AS THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH SUPPLY BACK THEN.AND OF COURSE PEOPLE LIKE TO SEE AND FEEL BEFORE THEY BUY.

Na. Dad got a 800 mile old WRX-S(registered to dealer) for 19k.....that was second week of October.
I'd expect to get a new STi for sub 24k, but was curious to know GENUINE deals people have gotten, but obviously not many folk have bought them.

800 miles or not its still a used car so reflected in the lower price imho. I really quite fancy an '08 STI in white. Look pretty darn good in the flesh and the insurance seems to be a lot lower (£200 or so for me compared to previous saloon shape).

or it might be there re-branding the sti model so less logos?
but if i'm honest i think they ain't right bothered about the uk market and the sales guys in the dealers are so full of sh*t asked one not too long back how there selling he said "there selling well better than expected" then talking to a lad i know there he said they've sold hardly any and there hoping that the saloon version gets released over here.
plus it always makes me laugh when they say they want to get rid of boy racer image with a hatch back?
drb5 have you test drove one? cos the handling is shocking and plenty of blind spots but you'd be part of an exclusive club as i've only seen two on the road since it's release.
can't help price wise but you should get loads off think of it this way the subaru dealers i've been to have 3 sti courtesy cars tells it's own story!

If you are spending £20-25K on a car, its not a big deal to spend a little more on a few susp mods to make the roadholding/handling superb, especially if you are saving 2-3K on the original asking price.

Subaru have distingushed the WRX as a totally different car to the STi, thus making the difference in price, a sensible one.
There is a couple of blinds spots, though it's not something i've found a problem so far and the car rolls a bit, but as a useable every day car that is sub 20k, is 4WD and has circa 250hp and 270lbsft it is EXTREMELY well priced imo.
Dads had his name down for the new RS for a year or so now and if it's priced at over 25k as it looks nearly definate....sorry, i'll have a new STi thanks very much.
I'm not a huge fan of the scooby looks, but in a bang for buck basis, it's hard to beat.
