The word replica means it could be anything from a few graphics on a UK car to a fully specced out JDM with all the suspension and a fully modded or replaced engine. Just asking for a bit of clarification as I thought most STI's developed a bit more than 240bhp. Problem with that..??

For a 1997 STI Id suggest that you invest in a KnockLink or a DetAlarm (does Rupert still make those?). I think that you need to keep your eye on it: Japanese cars were intended to run on 100RON fuel by 1997 so even V-Power falls a little short. Youll probably be alright, but its better to be able to see if youre detonating, rather than waiting for a holed piston or (far, far) worse...

As long as i know that jdm spec sti's were maped on 100+ ron from 99. v5 v6 . The v3 and v4 can even run on 97. But regarding perfomance i'm tryin' to use v-power, I've been told by a chap , that when he maped his v3 type r he put some fuel additives with the v-power and it was too much,,, So i gues v-power only would be the best choise....

Not so. 100RON fuel was available from around 1996 and all V3 onwards cars were intended to use it. Earlier cars will run on 97RON due to this being the octane rating of the premium unleaded available at the time.

I will run my 'Wagon, with its little turbo and non-aggressive map on 97', but I wouldnt EVER run an aggresively mapped V3 STI on ANYTHING below 99RON and only then if I could see what was going on.
