sti vs ppp - tuning
Would there be any reason not to get a ppp over an sti if you planned to tune it up a bit. For example if the ppp had a different ecu that couldnt be remapped as well / had to be changed etc.
If you were to get an second hand sti for about a grand cheaper could you fit your own exhaust / remap etc for the same price? with better results?
or would you go for the PPP where you get the uprated suspension, 305 bhp etc and work from there?
cheers.

From what I've read on here. The PPP seems to be a bit hit and miss when it comes to the quoted BHP.
If you can get the same car for example, just not PPP (still STI though) quite a bit cheaper, I think its worth spending the money and doing like your said, getting a full (decat) exhaust, air filter, remap, and you should be around 320bhp. Probably worth getting a uprated fuel pump at the same time, as they arent too expensive.

Mine made 340 bhp with a decent catted (TSL) exhaust, up-rated fuel pump and an Ecutek re-map. If the final cost was the same I'd take the STI and do it myself, to get more performance for less money. ( When I did it three years ago, stuff cost lots more i.e. TSL cat-ted down-pipe was about £600 then. )

P.S. Don't forget the handling, a Whiteline adjustable 22mm rear ARB is the best value mod on my car, kills the understeer !

if you plan on tuning your car past the 300BHP mark then its not worth buying a PPP car as you will then be paying to have a lot of the parts removed that you have just paid for.
PPP offers an uprated fuel pump, de-cat down pipe, sports cat and a back box along with the ECU remap.
no other parts are changed.
if however you are like me and don't wont to start tuning your engine and are perfectly happy with 300BHP then the PPP is a good buy.

It's actually a sports cat downpipe and a decat pipe + backbox.
