How do you find it for road use folks?? classic or newage, although classic is my choice of car, are they livable, drivable etc?? i know you,ll NEVER use it,s full potential on the road but i,d like some HONEST views cus i,m going to have mine forged in the new year and do use the car for weekends etc,Would be used for quarter miling etc too..

Firstly WTF have you done getting shot of the Spec C!!! You on drugs or something (as I have only just noticed)!!!
A REAL 500/500 is too much even in a Newage that is set-up to cope for road use.... let alone a Classic for road use and it costs you way too much money imo.

Lol,
How did i know you,d be first to reply??
You also KNOW the Spec C has gone dummy i told you that the otherday.. as for money, don,t worry about that Shaun...
The Spec C wasn,t being used and to have 16k of car sat in the garage was pointless, now i have a great classic withsome great mods on by Richard @ Tractive and a nice wod banked in doing the sale..

500+ in a classic is Awesome!
Just have to keep your wits about you when driving, no way near comfortable enough to be driven other than weekends.
If cost isn't an issue then a classic would be a great choice!
Newage for a bit more comfort

That lasted a bit longer than i thought,
Stop big upping cars then sell them 2 mins later,
You are mad pete,
Which classic have you bought,
Has it the 6 speed box etc in,
I looked at getting a p1 with a blown engine but time you put everything on you need to run 500bhp, it was cheaper to have a spec c

Paul,
There was NOTHING wrong with the Spec C, WAS/IS a great car, but when you can sell a car for EXACTLY what you paid for it then it,s a NO-BRAINER imo..
The STI i have now is quicker than the Spec C was anyway, it,s Marks old car that did a 12.3 quarter @ Scoobyshootout, already has Motec, EXE-TC, AP 6 Pots etc etc, so it requires obviously the forged engine, turbo and gearbox if i go BIGGISH power and you know how i can spend Pauline..
Still not as bad as you, 50k now must be on your Evo...

Pete, do you mean stigs old car mate,
What spec is the turbo, I raced him in it and it was well slow,
When did it do 12.3 mate and what terminals would need around 112 mph,,
Never be as good as a spec c mate,
Was this the tsl old car mate
Any pics please
If it was it was the scooby gav raced against in the evo vrs scooby,,

You,d never sell that, you,d lose WAY to much..
I do prefer the Classic though tbh, ok it,s nowhere near what the Spec C is out of the box, but this one is setup so lovely and it,s a hoot to drive...

Like Shaun says, i DON,T want a car that,s undrivable, or uncontrolable for road use, but i guess it,s the driver that makes a car do silly things, i,m sure a 400+ classic can be driven ok on the roads like my Evo and cossies were.

Cheers Paul..
Yes, it goes bloody well now tbh.. but with the money i made with the Spec C sale i,d like to take it to another stage, i think 400 would be enough tbh in a Classic.
You brainy guys will know this,
A 400 classic would compare to what in a newage?? 450?? i know it,s a guestamate way to compare cus in the real world you,d need the same driver imo with both cars to do the same work so to speak..

Depends on what Newage you are on about!
Spec C (1350kgs) with 500bhp has a power to weight of 370bhp per ton
Type R (1270kgs) with 450bhp has a power to weight of 355bhp per ton
To better a 500bhp Spec C, the Type R would need > 470bhp. Sod all in it. But it is more than just about power!
Pete,
You may think you have some spare cash, but that will end once you get through 3 5sp boxs doing the 1/4m and of course forging your engine, turbo etc etc. Leave the flaming thing as it is!

hi, my classic ra is running a true 418hp on pump fuel and dont get me wrong is very fast and nice to drive and can be a hand full and bite if not awake lol, but i keep thinking of upping it for more and more all i would say is make the decision and stick with it,as it soon adds up chasing power and keep swapping for bigger turbo's and mapping, oh and mine is my every day car to and from work

450 in a classic is good fun- around 3.2 to 60, 7.5 or so to 100 is quite nippy and on the same private track it romps off the end of the speedo in very short order. Fine in the dry, just need a bit more circumspection in the wet but not that much despite the fact that I'm running a 65R 35F dccd open 99% of the time. Not too laggy and a lot less to stop or corner than a lardy newage
450 in my P1 gives power to weight ratio of 349bhp per tonne
450 in a newage gives a power to weight ratio of 310bhp per tonne
450 in a Spec C gives a power to weight ratio of 333bhp per tonne
As a comparison 2007 911 turbo is 300 bhp per tonne...

he wasnt at silverstone that day
mlr run day
all the talk was your boys had some big guns there
the biggest one caught fire
us scooby boys lent him some spanners, and a flat bed
is it because of his terminal speed limit
anyhow
the question was can you live with a 450bhp scooby day to day
mine you can
it has a full spec including air con, touch screen sat nav,
multi play cd, oh and glass for windows

Thanks for all the feedback on this folks, appreciated..
Mark,
27k on your last car?? you must drive like a HOOLIGAN...Well i know you do..
There,s alot to consider i know, i,ve done it a few times now as Paul, Shaun will know with cossies and my last Evo, i,ve never had a nice powered Subaru and i,m itching for one, but i,ll take along think about this before jumping in, as Shaun RIGHTLY points out, it,s also back-up cash i,ll need too..
AND NORTHY, i,ll have to keep it for a while..
