BEEN SCAMMED ON E-BAY - ADVICE PLEASE
Ford escort rs turbo St/st exhaust, scorpion no reserve on eBay, also, Ford, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 09-Nov-08 19:55:36 GMT)
bid and paid for a 'Scorpion' exhaust for an rs turbo
in the post a welded together 5 piece magnex/unknown crap arrived
i have sent a pm asking why i have not received a scorpion exhaust?
this is the reply: scorpion was only added into the title after description comma for search engine purposes not actually intended to mean scorpion exhaust as stated in the item description. scorpion exhaust come in at £300 why would i sell one for £37?. i can see how you have mistaken it for a scorpion so i am willing to offer a full refund of £37 via paypal once i have received the exhaust.
i asked why should i pay postage twice for him to sell the exhaust again and end up £60 out of pocket?
his reply: i will meet you halfway for postage, i cant believe you thought you was getting a scorpion exhaust for £37 you wouldnt even get the back box for that
what to do next?

for one what hes done is keyword spamming, ebay frown upon it, two he didnt set a reserve so the fact it sold for peanuts is not your problem it sold for what people thought it was worth for all he knows you could of put a £200 bid on it.so is he saying that if it was a scorpion he wouldnt of sold it to you for that amount.right heres what to do next contact ebay and or paypal and attatch the email pm that states he added the scorpion part just for search purposes and see what they come up with another one for you to do anyway is open a dispute this will cause him problems as it will put a hold on the payment with two outlooks if one he has credit in hos account he will be down then the bid and postage, two if he isnt in credit it will put his account in arrears which will then mean that for him to use his paypal account he will have to credit the £67 before he can even pay for anything he bids on.just a thought.but it definately states as far as i see he is selling what you thought you where buying.

I'd definately open a dispute under "Item not accutrately described" ie, the item you received is not the item that was described in the ad.
As soon as you open the dispute, that will freeze his paypal account until the dispute is closed.

Take it on the chin basically. The hazards of buying second hand goods. Some sellers are genuine, others aren't.
Report him to ebay and they will deal accordingly.
Have to say the photo does make it look a bit like scrap.

If you open a dispute under not as described on the grounds of condition paypal will close it the minute you go to claims. Paypal cannot comment on the condition of an item. I sold an RC rallycross buggy and the buyer started a dispute over its condition. They went to claim and paypal found in my favour.
The only way you can get your money back through paypal if your not happy with the item is if the seller sends the item with no proof of delivery. You say it didn't arrive and paypal will pay you back.
I would dispute it under whatever closest matches the fact that it looks like he is selling a scorpion exhaust when it isn't and see what happens. If you notice anything with Prodrive in the heading has to be from Prodrive on ebay after lots of people claimed Prodrive this Prodrive that and it wasn't. I sold a front splitter that had a Prodrive sticker and they pulled it and I had to clearly state it was only the sticker.
