[Input required] Well, one week on. How are you all feeling out there?
Afternoon Scoobynet,
I thought i would pop this topic up as you have had your new administrator and webteam in place now for just over a week and I personally would like to get feedback on the way you think things are going in general?
We have had the odd hiccup as you might expect, but I think in general we have done a good job integrating into the community and fulfilling your wishes.
Most of the problems you listed have been eradicated and the rest are on my ever growling list of things to do. For reference, jobs tackled so far:
If you have any great suggestions we are happy to hear them, but by the same token, we are keen to know if we are heading in the right direction too, so please leave your comments here for us.
Please don't enter into long discussions on here, id like to see this a topic full of people stating their piece and if we think there are comments worth opening up we may do so or may give them their own topic to further discussion. Thanks in advance, i am off to don the flame suit and obligatory box!

- Fixed The Search function.
- Reviewed and reprofiled the Infraction system.
- Email Notifications fixed
- Time Zone Fixed
- New moderators appointed. Some old ones removed.
- Moderators only now given power to infract.
- Given moderators power to ban.
- Given moderators open access to all forums
- Rearranged some smilies .
- Added more Smileys.
- Add editor and spell checker options to quick reply box.

I think Stu, broadly speaking, SN is now heading in the right direction.
You're never going to please everybody, but as long as you at least listen to the majority you can't go far wrong.
You seem to have acheived quite a bit in a short time.
Keep up the good work

My biggest bugbear was the Infraction system, which was too open to misuse by the more overzealous members, resulting is so much bad feeling. It's good that some of the other site issues have been resolved, and that there is a feeling that the admin team are actually listening and willing to take part in sensible and reasoned debate. My day to day experience of the site has been improved by the fixes and changes, and the only thing that still has an impact is the "last post" bug, which I'm sure will be fixed at some point. It certainly seems to be a happier place, and appears to be moving in the right direction. Keep up the good work.

Yes, it is better.
It is more open to discussion - topics are not closed once Admin have responded on a thread, they allow a reply. Which is basic courtesy and a fine example of showing that Admin. are listening.
The Infraction system left a bad taste with most members, dumping that has resulted in a more relaxed atmosphere ... more freedom to voice an opinion which may differ from someone elses (which is what Forums are really all about - debate).
Maybe ask again in 1 month .... see if it's still looking positive?

I cant honestly say I have seen a massive difference, if it wasn't for the fact I keep going into policy I wouldn't have a clue.
However:
I am personally not keen on the power the NEW moderators have, I would much prefer this if it was something that existing moderators have and something you achieve when you have done the job without issue for a selected period of time.
I really don't like the fact I cannot edit or delete my posts when I want to or as I see fit unless I do it within 20 minutes? iirc.

edited to add: I haven't voted as I cant say either way at this time.

Old habits, I'll try your new fangled idea, but it'll take some getting used too, like flushing toilets, safety razors and soft loo roll

As you've recently had SunnySideUp posts vaped for posting the usual trolling crap (last night for instance), lets just hope as we thought that you're simply a slow learner.

Its on my list of things to do mate, we need to figure out who will select the new car, where the pics are coming from, yadda yadda... I'm sure you agree it isn't high on the communities priorities compared to some of the things that needed / still need doing.
But... the car on the front page is maybe more of an issue than you think. I know that you are right and technically things like the infraction system are more important, but as a symbol of how Scoobynet has been neglected for the last year or so that was probably the thing that was most obvious to people.
That's why (IMHO) the biggest sign that we are back on track will be when that changes. I know it will take a bit of time to get the right process in place to choose new ones, but why don't you in the short term abuse your power and choose one yourself I almost guarantee you will get more positive responses to this than any other single change you can make.
I would offer mine but to be honest it's a bit dull
