Default boost controller--- benefits??

i was speaking to the people as dsa in aylesbury and i asked them what would be the next thing to get for my car execpt for going for turbos, remap etc... so they said an electronic boost controller would be the best thing! (i have a full decat system and a green panel filter) is this true and are they worth the money and what gains could i get from them???
if its not worth getting one, what else could i get?
cheers

I wouldnt mind knowing the answer to this as well actually!

I bought my car modded etc, and then next thing my friend recommends before more power or looks, is an electonic boost control.....I dont see the point really though.

it holds the boost better and more accurately therefore giving you more power

Subaru's have good boost control out of the factory

Unless you are going for much more power and want to control boost for each individual gear then Electronic Boost controller waste of money IMHO.

Finer boost control can be achieved for the newage by swapping the 2-port for a 3-port boost solenoid (but will need a remap).

tbh i dont really think that you would need one at this stage if that is the only mods you have got.mine run fine without one for years, it wasnt until i went over 400 bhp that i bought one and that was only cos i had bought a load of other parts and thought as i was having all them fitted i might as well get one and have that fitted at the same time.

3-port is a stock subaru part (it was used in some earlier models IIRC). Sure someone can list a part number.

Cheers again for the advice! Why did Subaru go from a 3 port to a 2 port, if the 3 port is better?
Does a new solenoid come with some controllers?

For bog standard WRX / STi Cars that leave the factory there will be little difference between 3 and 2 port performance, 2 port is simpler though.

It's only when starting modding / mapping that any differences start to show.

Apexi AVCR comes with it's own boost solenoid (mine friom Andy Forrest did)
