Default Fuel Gauge Issues.......

Filled the Scooby up last week with no issues, came to fill it up today, which I did to the brim, got back into the car to start it up, the gauges did their normal Defi style sweep and then the fuel gauge read just under half full even though I had just filled it up.

I put over 50 litres in and saw that it was nearly overflowing when I took the nozzle out.....

I'm guessing it will be some kind of faulty sensor or loose connection, any ideas?

Also I'm presuming that if taken to Subaru this will be a nice and easy job to sort out, unless it is something simple that a muppet like me could sort out?

Responses as always are appreciated.

This probably wont help but...................when I had my MY03 STI I had a similar problem that only happened once.

The gauge 'under read' by half a tank and I expected the worse. [new sender] but it rectified itself after all the fuel was used up and refilling the tank.

Could be one of those things, fingers crossed. I'm going to go to Subaru in a week or so, see if they know what the score is, car still under warranty until mid 2010.
