Default Spec C RA-R - Keighley

Hi Fellas

New to the board so looking for some advice from the guys with the know how !!!!

I have read many bad things about Keighley Trade Centre, what do you think of the white Spec C RA-R they have in for £ 25K

Would I be better buying a standard spec c & spending the money on AP brakes, AST suspension etc or jumping in & spending the money on a RA-R that will have the brakes, suspension etc & have better re-sale value.

I am a little uneased by the reports on Keighley though.

All your thoughts would be very much appreciated, big wonga ££££ if I get it wrong

Cheers

From what I can gather the newer stuff is pretty good it's the older stock thats ****,

Best bet is to get an inspection before you part with your hard earned.

One of the local lads bought a nearly new spec c from them about 6 months ago, it only had 150 miles on the clock and is mint. He traded in a mint 54 plate STI. so thats atleast two decent cars they have sold.

My biggest worry is crash damaged then repaired !!

When you don't know what your looking at its very nerving to part with that sort of money, how much do you think its worth (in the current climate)

Most people say avoid - i read loads about them before i took the journey down to look at a scooby i backed out in the end up because of all the bad complaints they were getting.

My Spec C was near on 17k, i bought it 2 months ago now, 1 owner car, imported by David Hendry cars, only 14k miles, so just be careful spending 25k on this, i guess what i,m saying is, there,s some nice Spec C`s for sale for a little less, ok they,re not the RA-R but a bloomin good car believe me, 17k you can have mine...

Am not to sure on the prices of these cars at the moment
I mean these is someone selling a 54 plate for 8k mark so are these worth 25k?? might be worth to see what they are selling in Japan then adding all extra costs to see if the market is still the same,
but if thats what people are still paying then thats a good price,

with KT you can get a good/bad deal as they say buyer beware so do your reseach inspection, but you are well protected under certain laws regarding statments made by the seller, and the goods involved,

One of the guys over on Type RA had a look at some cars from KTC for another member. I'm not sure what the outcome was, but it may be worth asking the questions over there.

Agree with the comment above, the newer stuff inside the unit is top notch, only the older cars outside are a bit ropey.

Thanks for that.

Do you guys think its worth going all the way & getting the RA-R & not having to spend any money

OR

Spec C + AP's + Suspension + etc etc = £££££££££ You never seem to get any money back on the upgrades.

MPCentre have a 07 plate for £31K, oh & a nice S204 (seats look the bollocks) but not as good as a spec c

Any particular reason why you think you'll need to do brakes and suspension on the spec C. Try one and I think you'll be pleasantly suprised.........and have a lot more money in your pocket

You seem really confused at the min, the RA-R is the better car to go for, but like i,ve said, 25k is a fair old wod, i,m sure a Spec C around 15-17k with all the added mods you want to do still will only come out around 20-22k or so a maaped Spec C with 360bhp, suspension is hell of a raod car..OH , and don,t think the suspension setup on a normal Spec C is crap, far from it..

Your choice, the RA-R will sell for more too (MAYBE)

Go and have a look and test drive and see how you feel...

It has been smashed i've seen it the hwite oen at ktc however their S204 are minters.

The best person to ask about going for a tunned up spec c or an ra-r is MrRa as he come from a tunned up spec c type ra to an ra-r.

Doesn't matter what age it is. Every car could potentially had a bad history.

Saying that though don't be put off. Places have bad names but that doesn't mean all the cars are crap. You need to thoroughly check the history, paperwork, the car itself, speak to previous owners, HPI etc. If you don't know anything about cars take someone with you that does, pay them if you have, when spending a lot of money what's £50-£100 if it saves you in the future. If the dealers are reluctant to give you information or to contact previous owners walk away.

RA-R is arguably the best Scoob ever to roll off the production line & a limited edition to boot, what is there not to like If you've got £25k then it will be money well spent cos, as you say, a modded Spec C will never return the investement. Personally I'd not buy from KTC though & certainly so now that Juggers (he knows a fair bit about imported scoobs ) has confirmed crash damage.

What do you think
Immy has answered that one for you was that the white RA-R with a UK front bumper on it ??

I was looking for a Spec C RA-R in Blue I tried a white one, but it wasn't as fast as a Blue one ............LOL only joking Mr RA

£25k for a RA-R or
£23K for Spec C with type 25 AST's and MilteK setup

I'd take the RA-R every day

but a £29K for a RA-R

then my Money would go on a £24.5K Spec with type 25 AST's and MilteK setup and front brake upgrade

Who pays 23k for a Spec C ?? MINE WAS ONLY 16.5K, you could have suspension upgrade and brakes and still have 2-3k left over...

I,m 42 now and i,ve done all this, "buy the RA-R it,ll hold it,s money" etc when i bought an RS500 Cosworth and a Tommi Mak Evo, believe me, they DON,T hold moeny as much as you think, ESPECIALLY in this climate...

EDITED to say,

What do you want the car for Paddokx?? road weekend use, or trackdays etc??

If it,s just a road car go and test drive a Spec C, REMAP, EXHAUST, SUSPENSION (maybe) you,ll be suprised.......
