Default Anyone help me with my latest purchase? VW Golf

Bought a N-reg VW Golf 2 litre Gti 8V last weekend cheap...
It has a few issues, main problem is the rev limiter is at 3500rpm... I know this aint the right forum for it, but if anyone can help me with a Golf site that might be able to help me with this problem, would be much appreciated... Or if anyone on here has come across the same problem

I've changed the dizzy, rotor arm, dizzy cap and done the timing belt just to make sure the timimg marks are spot on... and still it hits the limiter at 3.5K...

Sounds like its running on limp mode. Get a diagnostic tool plugged in.

I think its in limp mode . . . Computer is saying its hall sensor which is in the dizzy on the 8V's as I believe it has no cam sensor . . .
I've eva been unlucky and got another dodgy 2nd hand dizzy, or the feed to the hall sensor has broken down somewhere along the line . . .
Just thought someone else might have come across this with a quick easy fix . . .
