You say that she is cutting out "or" holding back, it would be nice to know which one it is as this makes a difference as to what's wrong with the engine & the list of which parts could be causing the fault.

Is she "physically" cutting out, i.e. is it like someone switching the Ign key off and then back on again, or is it holding back, i.e. the engine is running and pulling the car along, but is hesitant and wont rev cleanly/misfiring.

Oh, by the way.......

THE CAPS LOCK THING IS REALLY ANNOYING

Coil packs or overboost. If its just hesitatant then coil packs. If it violently cuts out then overboost.

What have you done to it to get 360bhp? Is the boost controlled with a aftermarket boost controller or has it been tweeked with a new map?

Welcome to SN!

Drive the car off boost pending a diagnostic test, lest it's a fueling issue.

year 2000.. therefore as I think you have found.. MAF sensor..

buy a spare and at each service reset the ecu.. if it drives different / idle hunts etc etc then replace.

sorry about caps lock not used to this
it is like someone turning the ignition key off then on then if i put my foot right down she splutters while increasing speed until she clears then its ok the ecu has been chipped she has had full exhaust conversion inc headers front mount intercooler and oil cooler induction kit lightened flywheel and pulleys plus others ?

If it's a 'brick wall', then I'd suspect fuel cut. I'm not a big fan of them, but do you have a boost gauge and if so, what's it reading when the engine cuts?

gauge is in psi im sure gauge hits around 5 mark on gauge but it only seems to do it when load on engine it did it today i put my foot right down it was still pulling but spluttery then it cleared and been fine since.

I had a 1995 Sti 555 4 door a while ago, with what sounds like the same problem and it was down to the coils.Ran as silky as a flat 4 can after replacment. Also a full straight through HKS exhaust was fitted to it without a remap and that didn't affect the running after the new coils were fitted.

Nathan.

Apparently because the two coils are at the rear of the engine, they don't get enough air and so deteriorate due to the heat.I don't know how true that is.
