If the coil pack is in the centre of the inlet manifold then it is a V3/4 or if the coil pack is offset to the passenger side it is a V5/6.

Whats the first digit of the reg?

Is its got the old dash (look on here) its V3

If its got the new dash and a low rear spoiler its V4 (also momo steering wheel with grey/black middle bit.

If its got high rear spoiler that DOESN@T flip up at the end, the final front bumper with the large slat rather than 2 or 3 smaller slats on each side then its V5

If its got high rear spoiler that DOES flip up at the back its V6 - think V6s may also need clutch down before they start.

Assuming you have genuine body bits that is

So use the chassis code checker thingy that I'm sure someone can post a link to.

In the applied model number on the chassis plate, the 4th character will be a letter, which defines the model year. D='97 - V3; E='98 - V4; F='99 - V5.

Was this not on Pistonheads recently?

Thought it was advertised as a V5.

I know the pack is in the middle but I thought 5 and 6s didn't have that little blue pipe coming off the air intake (just after the clip) - my MY00 didn't have one.

Do the seats have red going all the way round the top edge or just on the wing tips?

Looks like its had alot of work - very low though.

I can say with a fair degree of certainty it is a version 4 as it has the coil pack in the centre, version 3/4 maf and the version 3/4 inlet pipe with the take off for the idle control valve.

yeah the dccd doesnt work as the gear box has been changed, but im having problems with the coilovers there really soft and the car bounces like mad on the slightest bump so i think they might be faulty, apart from that its fine.

Perhaps the bump damping has been turned down to the lowest setting (to try to make them more comfortable)?
