We've got both Spec C & DC5.
Two different cars. DC5 is plenty fast enough albeit not turbo nutter like the Scoob. The DC5 handles like it is on rails though so carries great speed through the corners. Both are drivers cars; the DC5 is slower so as long as you realize that you'll be OK. DC5 is rare too ... not seen one other in 10 months of ownership.
Would I swop as the OP suggest? Not an 04 Scoob for an 02 DC5!

I had a 03 ctr (same engine i think) and tbh is was boring compared to a scooby. you have to rev the nuts off it and even then it doesnt put you back in your seat.

To be honest though i never drive the nuts of the scooby anyway, i just fancy something thats still fairly quick but a little less heavy with the fuel consumption, would a DC5 still require 99ron fuel as there imports ?

I don't think it is a crazy swap.
I know what you mean about being bored with the STI. Mine was modded to 340bhp with all the Whiteline bits etc so an alround fantastic drivers car but it became a little too predictable and I wanted something else, something more raw and fun which excited me again. I went for a calssic and modded it [and still am modding]
I would imagine the DC5 is a cracking car but do they have to be driven hard to get you moving on? A test drive is the way forward.

Sounds like the DC5 ticks all boxes then
Fuel economy will be way better than the Scoob especially if you keep her below Vtec zone. Still requires 99Ron fuel. We use Tesco99.

I've got a MY05 STI PPP and a DC2 Type R. Everybody is different but the DC2 is the better drive of the two IMHO. You feel part of the DC2 and the chassis is something only Subaru and Mitsubishi and most modern super hatches could only dream of. Theres nothing like a screaming DC2 VTEC, much better sounding than the scoob on full tilt. However the scoob sounds awesome standing still.
I've never driven a DC5, they are supposed to be softer than the DC2, but have more torque 150lbft and 220bhp, but they are heavier than a DC2. Also watch out for the LSD on the DC5 apparantley its a bit of an animal.
Go and test drive one.

If you are considering it, then perhaps you are already bored of the subaru, so why not go for a change.
At the end of the day, it's only a car, if you don't like it, get another Subaru, or something completely different.
I was a hard core Pug 205 fan, never thought I'd change but then it had to go due to impractiblilities of teeth rattling suspension etc. A 'four door family car' was required and so the Subaru came to light.
Go for it, if you have the spare cash to do such a thing, enjoy it now, you can't take it with you

I've gotta get the servicing done on mine first though so depending on how much that sets me back willbe if the swap is on, if it costs me a fortune i'll probably keep it a little longer

a guy at work has a DC5 Teg. I don't like the look of it at all unfortunately, I find it ugly and the Interior looks very tacky. It's also gutless in comparison to classic Impreza, so a 2004 STI PPP to a DC5 will be a massive step down in performance and I think you'll miss it!

If i would go for honda , it would be s2k, FWD would be step backwards , hondas are very reliable cars, one of the most reliable i think, engine is cracking , where would you find 2.0 non turbo with 240 bhp , s2k is very fun car, but you must have respect for it , specialy in the wet, on atrack at cornes it will outhandle scoob, but it laks power on the straights... and the main thing that kills me is , that hondas are dead before the vtec kicks in, vtec controller will f***k up the engine thought... Anyways , i don't think you are crazy it's just FWD are not fun anymore ...

try one and make up your mind- you definitely wont be dissapointed in the dc5,my other halfs got one and ive an 05 sti with bits. the scoobs quicker but the tegs not far behind and its a grin every time you hit vtec, and definitely handles better in the dry, huge fun cross country. but it can get waring drivng it for a long time evereyday, youve got to get it over 6k for it to fly.
but running costs are a different league-er indoors gets 350 miles from a tank, which is only 50 litres!
glad your still enjoying yours terminator, done any mods yet?
