Default Newb!

Hi peeps, though i'd say hello. Normally on passionford but i've been steered over here!
Might be looking to turn to the dark side and buy a scoob, they're not bad cars and I could do with a change from cossies
After some buying advice really, what to look for/what to avoid. I know **** all about flat four engines so need to learn!
Only got about £2000 to spend so want to avoid buying a pup if I can, Cheers

Just like passionford all the info you need is within the forum so just hang around and do as much reading up as possible and you will have a reasonable idea of what you want.

Welcome to the forum and thank god you've woken up and smelt the roses and decided to buy a decent make motor lol

For two grand you can actually get a decent example of a classic shape (K to X reg i think they go upto)

I paid only £1800 last year (before the credit crunch!) for a mint p reg wrx and it never let me down, now you can probs still get a decent one at that price good luck anyway

£2000 I am sure you will find a good buy even more so as the *** has fell out of Subaru's because of the recession. Theres a guy on here who can't even get 1k for a Subaru wrx wagon that looks ok imho

Davey, another ex Ford man here!
I've not even had my classic a month yet, but it's a great car. For £2 k you can get a reasonable car, largely depends on how new you want to go, and if you want a UK or import model. If you are used to Cossies, you'll know you need to look, look and look again. There is some complete **** out there, and a few nice cars dotted around. (Just like Cossies!) Good luck with the search!

Still got a cossie powered track toy that'll stop me wanting another saph.

Hello mate and welcome over.

As some have said already due to the credit crunch your be able to get a nice motor as it stands at present. Also like anytime you buy a second hand motor just be a little bit savy when looking at a motor or ask someone who is close to you on here if they wouldn't mind taking a look for you for piece of mind etc.

I was tempted to go the other a couple of months ago for a L-reg Escort Cossie as my friend is on passionford (goes by the name of Charlie Luciano I think on there?) and many other ford sites. But I've stuck to my beast at the mo.

Got luck with the hunting mate and welcome again.

Steve
