Default When Was Launch Date Of Bugeye STi

Right, been after a bugeye STi - most are 02 - some 52, but I've came accross a UK 2001 model.

I assumed they were launched in 2002 but obviously not.

Anyone know when they were launched?

I've seen plenty JDM 2000 - 2001 etc

Just this UK one threw me as it's the first UK 2001 I've seen in my searching.

First magazine articles had 51 plate cars, mine was delivered on 01/02/02, but had a "deal" with the "stealers" to leave it in the showroom till 01/03/02.

Ok, this is the one that has confused me as I too thought 2002.

This is registered 1/12/2001 according to DVLA.

It's got a later style Prodvive style bumper and Prodrive spoiler, This version should have separate fogs and a low level spoiler LOL Some other bits changed too !!

So, does this car look a wrong-un?

Can anyone confirm if it should have low spoiler, different bumper etc

Default Prodrive Edition

The side skirts are wrong, and the dials are not shown.

It could be an "ordinary" sti with added bits or a Prodrive Edition with the wrong skirts.

Only real proof will be the V5 where it will state, or not, Prodrive Edition.

Ran the reg through the RAC site

Car history report by RAC

Shows as "Impreza WRX-STi Prodrive"

Hmmmmm, which puts me off as to why it has the wrong skirts.

My JDM STI7 is on a Y reg (01?). Cosmetically that car looks like a prodrive apart from having the flared side-skirts. I can't tell on this crappy monitor. Would of been nice to see if it has the blue dials.

This looks to me like a Prodrive style STi circa 2002

Default Update

I'm going to see it tomorrow out of curiosity.

The owner confirmed it has Blue Dials, a Plaque of some sort near the visor stating to let insurance know it's PPP 305bhp or something and a PPP certificate from Prodrive.

I mentioned the sideskirts - he doesn't have a clue as to why or when they were changed, or if indeed they were changed.

It's on the V5 as a Prodrive model registered 1/12/2001 - which is very very weird if you guys in the know say they didn't appear until 2002.

Does it sound feasable, and this is just me thinking aloud, that the car was an early Press car or demonstrator hence the 2001 registration?

Cheers for the help so far - invaluable.

For JDM STi's launch was October 2000 (X-plate)

UK STi's was February 2002 (51-Plate)

Subaru confirm the car is a 2002MY car, built in 2001 and registered December 2001.

They say some very early cars (as in 2001 build) had non Prodrive Skirts - but confirmed the car in the link I posted above (after quoting VIN numbers) was a 2002MY Impreza WRX STi Prodrive PPP.

Had me worried! And confused the hell out of me lol!

Anyway, tonights viewing night....

Finally, obviously the car has a factory fitted RAC Trackstar - if it is currently active can that be transfered to me or do I have to start a new subscription?

Many thanks

Charlie
