Mine was fine for over a year, the ecu may throw a CEL and this is due to the cat's not being as efficient as expected...

I changed my exhuast, fuel pump & added an induction kit. Bob Rawle said to run it off boost at all times until the remap. I remaped ASAP!

Thats what I was told by Andy Forest too. I take it that means keeping the needle on the boost gauge at or below zero.

I would like to know the answer to this as well, I guess so as it is impossible to have the car running at -0.7 all the time.

The bugeye was a bit notorious for having boost spikes if de-catted....not the sort of thing that will blow the engine just a bit juddery at times.

I'd just drive it normally but don't cane it.... the Bugeye Denso ECU is pretty trick so will keep the fuelling within limits, also the newage FPR is a good item and won't be overwhelmed by the Walbro

Shaun

PS It depends on the mods...I went for a TD05, bigger injectors, different iop-mount etc. The ECU wouldn't have coped so (as Bob Rawle said) I drove around off boost for a day or so until I could get to Swindon LOL

Mine just wasted the fuel, as it made 340 bhp after the re-map, and maybe 285 bhp without. But it used just as much fuel !
The main thing is that you are adding a sports-cat NOT a decat, makes quite a difference to boost issues.

P.S. bug-eyes aren't as bad as the "blobs" that followed for this problem.

I have a prodrive sports cat fitted to my car and have decatted the up pipe and centre section, I have ran this for 2 months now without any issues - Car is a lot quicker spooling up and more responsive in general.

Can't wait 'till i have the funds for a remap

do it!! I did mine in stages as and when I could afford it, started with the exhaust, inc uppipe, panel filter, vta, fuel pump etc. My light came on but car was ok, as soon as you change the turbo/injectors then you need to remap straight away!

Do you guys think that Bob Rawle doesn't know what he's talking about He told me to run the car off boost until the remap in order to avoid "over boost" ...

TX I do not doubt what you or for that matter Bob Rawle say at all. I'm just going from my personal experience thats all. I started chatting with Bob in June about my upgrades, but didn't remap until nearly 3 months later from my first mod. Bob said my car with the mods at the time was fine to run for the time being without remapping. In my case Bob had the luxury of being able to speak to my dealer to get a full understanding of the cars history etc.
