Default Which is the better tyre size to run on a classic?

205 45 17
or a
215 40 17

Oppions and reasons please? As I have done both in the past and have found little difference?

No real difference in how they drive. The reason most swap to the 215/40's is because they are a way more common and cheaper size than the 205/45's - simple as that

Ive used 215/40/17's and 215/45/17's

The 45's rub ever so slightly on the rear arches, but only when fully laden and severly undulating roads

I prefer the look of the 45's as they fill the arches more too

had both on my previous scoob at some stage
prefer the 45's as were a bit more forgiving on the cruddy roads where i live!

Same here, dont have any problems at all rubbing on Eibach springs and alloys with the right ET.

I think the idea is to keep the as close to the original rolling radius as possible.

Ive use 215/45/17's every time and never had any problems
