black roof...........
hey guys dunno if this is posted in the right place but i'll give it a try.
my roof was badly marked so have decide to get it painted and decided to do it black instead of white again, was just wondering if anyone can give advice.
i have started to paint it by rattle can gloss black but it looks 2 tone in the sunlight so was wondering whats the best way to make it one solid colour before i use clear coat?
wet and dry paper?
rubbing compound?
any help plz guys.

Dude, you cannot paint a large, flat panel like a roof with rattle cans and expect it to look anything other than rubbish. Especially trying to paint it black.
Got to go into a bodyshop to look half decent I'm afraid.

I once sprayed a Fiesta bonnet with a spray can then flatted it and rubbed it with T Cut. Got good results too. I know it aint a roof or a scooby tho, just a cheap crappy fiesta so it didn't really matter!

As above you can get OK results with a can at best and even that takes a lot of effort (I've also done a bonnet that was on a crappy fiesta).
Take it to a body shop it'll probably save you money in the long run

You can get good results with rattle-cans. The biggest problem for me it that they spray best onto a vertical surface, so a roof isn't too easy.
For the best results keep the can fairly close and move quickly, don't stop in one place as it will cause runs (duh yeah!), if you hold the can too far away the paint dries before landing on the roof. If you can get a orange peal effect it's quite good as the paint should be think enough to be flated back.
To flat it use something like 800 wet and dry then progress to 1500 and finially 2000. A good cutting compound (even T Cut) should bring it up well after 2000 grade wet and dry. Keep the roof wet with plenty of water (and a splash of washing up liquid stops the paper clogging) and you shouldn't get any deep scores.
Good luck.
