After just scraping through my mot im thinking of getting a manifold before i go and get her remapped to lower the very high co level.

Any better ones out there, will the car need a remap asap once i fit the thing.

Another question, how much is the software and cable for the simtek, ive heard the ecu wont need the specific cable/software for your ecu soon, but how soon and will it make my current map redundant?

From a bit of reading on here, the type of manifold without decent expansion joints might crack quite easily. I've seen manifolds for sale from tuning shops that have sprung joints thus allowing for expansion. If it's really good quality material, then the expansion may not be an issue and cracking a non event. I'd see if anyone has had one of these before parting with the old hard earned

What mods have got (if any)? Just wondering why you may have scraped through the MOT (mines due next month)

Well he said co levels kept fluctuating, im going to give the ecu coolant temp sensor a try with a new one, see how things go, in the meantime if it's still rich then it has to be a fault with the mapping, either way when i get her up for a remanp they can read the ecu to see what is going on.

I may put a multitester across the lambda wires just to make sure there is voltage present.

I did have problems with a boost pipe coming off with the remap so that probably didn't help things but it has been sorted.

From the pics it seems to have expansion joints of sorts so could be ok.

I agree, a friend has a similar set and his cracked after 10k miles, which isnt too bad i suppose....

whats the gain to be had over these compared to a set of harveys ported oem headers?

So what is a real good set of headers, is it worth my lagging them with tape?

Ive heard harveys mentioned a few times hmm then again my current ones are knocking on, id rather replace them with a 4-1 set for more poke at the top end, she seems to flatten out a bit torque wise.

 

If its made of 304 grade stainless it will crack

Inconel is the only way really but silly money
