V1 WRX STI 2450 Bargain or not?
Ive been offered the above car for the above price. Its done 98k and has a Blitz nur spec exhaust and currently puts out 271bhp. just wondering if its a bargain and wonder if itll be quicker round a track than my 240bhp Mr2 turbo. Thanx

What's been done to it to get it to 271 ?
Condition ?
Better off spending another grand on something like this IMHO

FWIW 2.5k is what I paid for my 69k 1995 STi2 Wagon
Blitz Exhausts are great but would not be a deal winner for me at that price.
This fella might still be keen to sell ?

Not really after a wagon mate as im looking to make a part time track/road car. I done a track day recently in my Mr2 turbo and my friends 2006 scooby STI PPP (315bhp) was 4 seconds a lap quicker. My other mate in his evo 9 fq340 was 6.5 secs quicker. Obviously I need to close the gap so was thinking of a early STI as a good base car. Anyone got any alternative suggestions?.

Not being rude mate so please dont take offence!! you have a 240 bhp mid engined turbo, rear wheell drive car, you shouldnt be that far off the pace of the cars mentioned, in particular the scooby.. i would suggest you look at your set up, suspension, brakes, tyres, and then maybe your driving style before you spend 2.5k on a different car plus all the other mods / £££ you will have to spend after all your only talking about an extra 30bhp and with the losses through the drive train id bet that the scooby your thinking of buying would be slower than the mr2.. as said im not being rude i just think the money could be better spent and then you could really pi55 your mates off instead of the reverse being true..

My old rev3 turbo was definately on the pace of my old classic sti 3 and 4. But, the whole 'would it be quicker round a track' can only be answered if you have one thing..............talent.
The MR2 is a very twitchy car on the limit, whereas the sti is more forgiving. I still think that in the right hands, a standard rev3 tubby would beat an sti round a track.

Thanx for your responses guys. Im sticking with the mr2 and adding a uprated ct20b, chargecooler, boost controller and bigger injectors. Already have a blitz nur spec on the car. Just need to uprate the brakes as these seem to be the weak point. Thanx everyone.

You dont need more horsepower, you need better suspension and brakes. If performance is still an issue then remove weight as this benefits all three.....
