MY98 UK Turbo being mapped soon - what supporting mods???
Hi all, my terzo is having an apexi ecu fitted and mapped soon, and I am just trying to decide on supporting mods. Its already got a cheapo induction kit(which I will be replacing before mapping), full stainless 3" exhaust(decat).
I'm also going to fit an uprated fuel pump. What else should I be looking at to get the best results from mapping?
Cheers, Alan

280 would do nicely until I get a proper set of brakes
Will have the ecutek license after the first time anyway, so after that I can get remaps done relatively cheaply.
Its running 240 just now chipped.
Not too bothered about peak figures, just anything that will make it better to drive, more responsive etc.

Right - now i'm thinking you have a phase 1.5 engine. Either way, you have a similar base as i did with my UK MY99. I decatted and had a remap from the std 215bhp upto 257bhp and to be honest, the jump didn't feel massive and i soon got bored Once i had fitted a fmic and a a VF35 turbo it felt like it should have done (313/300).
As far as brakes are concerned i ran only uprated pads and disks as i simply wasn't interested in ploughing into corners at mach2 so the only just above std brakes were plenty for me. All i ever wanted was the straighline push

Really didnt expect over 300BHP safely from a Uk turbo engine though.

I think the best option is for a turbo upgrade also. For £150-£200 you could have a Vf28 turbo (fitted to the P1 as standard) and can make upto 340bhp, so more than enough.
I also fitted a 3 port boost solenoid prior to the remap.

Thats pretty much what i'm after to be honest. The car is looking mint now, so its not as if I want to abuse it through the corners, but I want it running nice and healthy(basically as much straight line power as is safely possible, lol).

Yeah I was considering buying a different turbo actually. Having doubts at the mo how much longer i'll get out of this one! 3 Port boost solenoid is definetly on my list now, thanks. JGM also recommended it, as i've posted this in the general technical section as well(bit of a mistake at first, but its good to get opinions from both experienced owners, and mappers etc.)
