Default How good are 08 ??

I found on some US forums that 08 STI has bad ECU map and that a lot of people had blown engine on their new car.How many of you people had those kind of problems?I should get my 08 in a few weeks and that information about engines disturbed me a little.I dont wont to pay 40000€ for a car and to have it broken after 10k KM...

I thought our UK fuel is of a higher RON than the yanks....

If true then maybe it's just the US map that's not safe.

Subaru WRX STI getting ECU reflash for combustion issues - Autoblog

The Americans use the PON (pump octane number) which is an average of MON+RON

I suppose that means it only affects USDM cars. Euro/UK spec cars probably run on a slightly different map?

I thought that it could be cuz of the fuel but i wasnt so sure.I know that on my car says recommended fuel 98oct not 91-93 like in US.
That also means that maybe their ECU map is different then in EU...
I hope that mine 08 STI will work fine

My old supercharged jet ski had to have a general recall to replace the knock sensor because a few went pop in the US of A.

My dealer said it was only becasue the Yank fuel is crap compared to ours, and there was no concern for the European ski's, but it was a general recall non the less.

91-93PON is close to our 95-97RON, It's just a more aggressive test which gives the lower numbers.
