He's missed a '1' off the asking price. They haven't dropped that much just yet.

Often the underpriced cars are scams.

Bascially, scammer "nicks" an ad and puts the same one up at silly price.

It's a scam, no telephone number normally gives it away.

What did I say I've had a reply from "Daniel"

Hello,

Thank you for contacting me about the 2007 SUBARU IMPREZA 2.5 WRX STi, 6,800 miles, registration number : CE57 OEG.

About the car : The car is in perfect conditions, no flaws or dents, no scratches or any kind of damage, no engine problems. The interior is in like new condition and has never been smoked in. The car is still UK registered so you will not have to pay any custom taxes .

The problem is that I had to move with my family in Portugal where I got a new job transfer. I brought the car here with me with the intention of driving it but when I found out about the very high import/custom taxes and all the restrictions regarding registration and emissions tests here I've changed my mind and I've decided to sell the vehicle. I want to sell it in UK because is still registered there.

As I'm unable to travel in the near future and I don't have anyone back home to help me with the sale I decided to make this transaction through eBay. So how this actually works? Simple: the buyer sends the payment to eBay and they hold the money until the car is delivered; I ship the car to UK; I get my money only after the buyer receives the car and makes sure everything is as agreed. I believe this protects both buyer and seller and it's the right way to do this.

The final price is £6,300 including shipping and delivery to your home address.

So if you decide to buy this car or need further information please get back to me as soon as possible.

Thank you,
Daniel Davison

Just mention that you, too, have much family in Portugal. You can send them round to collect the car.

Now that is a good plan. They try this trick all the time with bikes.

If something is too good to be true it normally is.

I nearly got caught out a few years back with a Lotus. It turned out that the vendor was a scammer using western union money transfer.

One good scam deserves another....

Offer to pay him with a bank draft for £10000 and you'll arrange to collect the car after he's done a Western Union money transfer of the difference.

Saw a similar scam where i saw a cheap skyline r34 for sale on ebay. Was listed around 6k as well.

Car was in germany , seller saying car was cheap as he was stationed with army and had no use to drive a right hand car there thus the car was on for sale cheap.

Talked about shipping car to uk etc but asked for money first....

I said i would be coming to germany myself to pick up the car and drive it back to uk. I got no reply lol

Had somebody trying exactly the same scam with a Focus RS allegedly for sale in Italy.Same scam in every way as the one mentioned. They'd moved, taken car etc. . .jollied them for a week then got an abusive email from them which was hilarious. When I asked questions they always came back in broken english but when you asked about payment they were very specific. . . and all in perfect english !!!!!

Hmmm. Bit worrying. Typed in my reg number, and it's come up as uninsured. of which it is insured BTW.

Ah, just typed in my old plate, and it's insured on that
