P1 has same engine as Ver V (Jap) STi so is "prone" to engine problems. P1 looks better than Type R though IMHO.
I think that the Type R is the better choice
TX.

Type-R is so much more raw, its insanely low ratio gears makes it crazy
Dont get me wrong the p1 is also a nice car, but the harshnes and rawness of teh type-r gives it my vote

erm, actually thats what i ment pmsl
just cause my insurance on the STI is over a grand a year,,,,, or 560 for a uk 2000 so im guessing a P1 would be similer and i would change all the other stuff anyway
though saying that its gonna be cheeper to buy a modded STI R than a P1 and mod it with everything,,,,, and you ge the roof vent with the type r

Type R any day of the week, I actually drove several cars before buying my Type R some of which included the Hawkeye Spec C, various Newage models, classic Sti's and a P1 - The tuning possibilities are endless the drive is awesome especially when you get the tail out, not to mention the gearing, they come well equipped - A type R with stage 1 modifications including a remap should produce in between 320 - 340bhp and will run mid 12's on the drag strip any day of the week that just shows how much performance you can get out of them without spending big money See you at one of the MSOC meets

There is no right and wrong choice of either of these cars, despite what some spout on here. One car or the other might be better suited to an owner, but everyone has different needs in a car.

Ive not owned either so i wouldn`t know if the shells are identical, its just visually other classic models look far better than the P1. The front end with the splitter doesn`t look rallyish to me, it looks a bit touring car`ish if you know what i mean.

type r all day log.
a real drivers car,no abs etc.
DCCD is the nuts.
Such low gearing, makes for very rapid acceleration.
There r no bad points i can think of for owning a type r.
Super car quick to 100mph.

and as a lot of typeR owners seem to be posting, how do you find the brakes and have you ever used the dccd on the open roads, have you found any difference? The P1 i tested before mine just felt like a quicker version of the UK model
