Default Which Full system to go for??

Just getting back into an Impreza after having one a while ago.

Needs a full s/s system on it and am tempted to go for a H/Scott system with the 3" rolled in tailpipe.

Always liked the distinct sound these systems give.

Few questions if anyone would be kind enough to answer....

Anyone have this system on?

Are there any weak points?

Do they get considerably louder with age and loosing baffles in the rear box?

Are there any alternatives that give the same or similar sound?

Would there be noticable gains from a MY99 uk car with a Blitz induction kit as the only other mod?

The system works out to £500 (D.pipe/centre/box) which is quite a bit si want to make sure it's right before I part with the cash!

Thanks.

I had the H&S 3" back box and de-cat centre section on my old uk turbo and it was perfect, no problems with fitting or use. It does get louder after a few hundred miles but not so loud that it's all you can hear in the car. They are a quality manufacturer, I've never heard a bad word about them. It depends what you want from the exhaust, it's not the loudest but I think it gives you the best burble.

Exhaust **** (these were taken when it came off the car after over a year on, and it still looked mint)

I've got a RCM (Roger Clarke) full s/s system on mine & it sounds awesome. It goes straight through & is capable of handling 800bhp apparently! Bob Rawle recommended it to me

The Hayward and Scott system does definitely sound very nice. I'm changing my Nur to this instead...

You will not regret it

Had a full H&S system on my Classic shape.

Are there any weak points?
Nope.

Do they get considerably louder with age and loosing baffles in the rear box?
Not that I noticed, but I had the back box and centre first then added the downpipe later. Definitely went up a notch volume wise with the downpipe

Are there any alternatives that give the same or similar sound?
The ScoobySport (are they still going ) system is based on the same design so should be similar but save your money and get the H&S as it's cheaper.

Would there be noticable gains from a MY99 uk car with a Blitz induction kit as the only other mod?
Full decat can add around 15-20 bhp on a Classic. Get it remapped and you'll be seeing around 280bhp if your lucky. Careful with the induction though, know to cause problems with the airflow sensor(MAF) on MY99/00 which can cause the fuel air mix to lean out = det = blown engine. With the extra responsiveness you'll get fro the turbo with the de-cat it could start to cause problems. The standard airbox and filter are good for at least 350bhp so consider going back to this for the sake of the engine. Also worth wrapping the downpipe in heat wrap, hotter it is inside the faster it will flow the gas, also keeps the engine bay temps down.

The system works out to £500 (D.pipe/centre/box) which is quite a bit si want to make sure it's right before I part with the cash!
As mentioned you won't regret it. Keep your eye on the second hand section as these are often for sale, as it's stainless it will outlast the car. Sometimes a H&S group buy gets organised too so keep your eye on the group buy section.

Rcm and the revolution system are very good , but the blitz is the best for sound and its only comes with a 2.5 centre pipe so will restrict power though
cost wise RCM is the dearest , revolution is very good for the price .

Well it looks like it's definatly going to be a H/S system to go for....

As I mentioned, am getting back into a scoob after owning one about 4 years ago, that was a Type R V5 and was great fun to own/drive but things are different now with the arrival of kids/mortagage etc so on a lower budget!!

The type R had a full de-catt Revolution system on which had it's own type of sound but remeber hearing friends with the H/S system and definatly preferred the sound over the Revolution.

That sounds like good advice C.Dodger, never really was a big fan of the induction kits and did'nt have one on the type R, the guy selling my the MY99 is giving me the origional airbox too so will swap it out asap.

how about a cobra? thats what am getting on my99, it already has a decat center on a 2.5" and a 2.5" tell pipe, which has been remapped already, but will be swapping it for a 3" center and 4" back after hearing the sound of the cobra,

really did want a blitz nur r spec, but the cost of £460, can get the cobra for £325

Blitz is full 3", however has a small part which connects to the DP which is a 2.5". Not restrictive though as has been tried and tested at well over 500bhp.

had the afterburner vortex(angled) full system,
now i have a blitz nur spec
imo i feel the afterburner is better for performance, still has a fantastic note to it.
blitz is just pure loudness lol
