Default £20 savings on road tax if your tax is expiring end of this month.

Just thought of sharing this information.

I have a 56 plate STI and my road tax is due for renewal end of this month and the cost is going to be £400.

March next year once the budget kicks in it will go up to £440.

So if you buy 6 months road tax for £220 now and then you can buy another year just before the new price comes in and still pay £400.

6 months tax = £220 (£20 extra you paid for this 6 months)

1 year tax before March = £400 ( £40 savings from new rate)

Total savings £20

I'm still going to put 6 months on it now.... then 12months in FEB 09 hopefully that's before the cut off date? I know there has been threads on this as to whether we will be allowed to do it or not I'm not sure.Worth a go

Yep same here, my tax runs out at the end of this month. Doesn't it mean that you would miss out on the price hike next year if you do a 6 months this year?

I think that’s because his is a 2.5L 2006 model??? - Road tax - Parker's

If you have a 2004/2005 2.0L then it will be £210 now and £300 next year (think I am correct ) - Road tax - Parker's

Well that’s what I am hoping as I have a 2004 which is due for tax renewal at the end of this month. Tax it for 6 months so I fall inside next years increase then tax it for year after that.

Maybe someone can answer this one......

My road tax runs out in March 2009. Would it be possible to sworn my car off the road for a week or so and then take out a years Road Tax (before the end of the year)? therefore save the increase for a almost a year

No Sorn it at the end of January (?), claim one months refund, and re-new on the 1st of the following month. I admit I don't know when the rates go up exactly.

HTH

DunxC

P.S. mine's 119.50 for the next six months !

I have phone DVLA and checked on this ready. The price increase will not come into effect from 1 st of March, it goes with the budget date I've been told.
