Quick Oil Question
Hi,
I'm going to service the motor this weekend,
What oil should I use? and/or what brand?
10/60 or
5/40
Car is a standard (engine wise) WRX 2003. Covered 48k
many thanks

Just do a search and you'll fine 100's of threads asking very similar question. The handbook tells you what grade oil to use. You could call Alyn @ AS Performance (do a Google) and he'll tell you what he recommends and supply accordingly.

i did mate.
The best post I found included the information below, but when I went to the local car parts place, he was adamant that 10/60 was good enough. So I searched again and I think it tends to depend on how modded the car is.
Mine is standard, so I should go with the handbook? Given I'm a complete novice, wondered if there was anything better than what is stated in the book, branding or otherwise:
Engine - Castrol Edge 5W/30, sump volume required = 4.5l

5w-40 will be fine on a stock 2003 WRX
Alternate options are 5w-30 and 10w-40 - as listed in your handbook.
5w-40 has the best properties of both.
