Default SVA Question

Hi fellas,

I have an Impreza V5 Type-R that will soon require SVA testing and preparation etc...

Got the following quote from a company and was just wondering if they are being reasonable?

Sva conversion and test package £ 850+vat
Mot test £50
Uk registration package includes number plates, road tax and DVLA fees £ 340+vat

... can anyone comment on this?.... also any recommended SVA'ers around the south wales, south west?...

Cheers for any input...

Hi

It just so happens i have my original SVA paperwork for a car i recently bought (V7 STI). The SVA garage (SVA UK LTD) was at Southampton Docs and the works undertaken in March this year, prices as follows;

SVA Test £200, SVA Prep and Admin fee £162, CAT Approved Immobiliser £120, Model report ? £100 - This equated to £650 including the VAT, not too sure about the DVLA costs as im the second owner.

Hope this helps

It seems very expensive. If youve lived in Hong Kong and owned the car for a reasonable length of time, then you wont need an E-SVA test. If that was for a simple SVA then theyre crooks!

Hi
This price sounds reasonable i had my v6 type r sva tested this year by sva u.k it cost me £1500 all in.
It is more expensive for the type r because there is no model reports for this model so they have to change the gearbox for the test to a standard impreza gearbox and change it back again after the test.

thankxs for the feedback fellas... i dont need an ESVA test but, just a simple SVA as GC8 stated, have fit the criteria for importing tax and duty free.

think i keep pricing around, its a shame everything is so far away tho... south wales is not a happening place

also thanks for the links!... if theres any other feedback please input

Personal import eh? That is the most outrageous quote for a simple SVA prep that I have ever seen.

You should out them, in order that other people can avoid them.

Would it actually be that had to prep it myself?... bare in mind im not at all mechanical minded....

i suppose the car fits the bill already without having to alter too much.. rear fog, de-limit, mph, radio, fuel neck.

emissions should be fine with just a back box, lights back to halogen and there u have it... the rest pretty much is same as UK.

or am i wrong?!... ... ahhh headaches!

To a standard car add: new tyres (needed no mater what); fuel filler restrictor; electronic speedometer conversion with MPH decal; remove wind shields; remove stereo and fit blanking plate... Theres not a deal more to it.

I forgot the wireless key: remove or replace with something on the correct frequency.

If its a V5 does that not mean it was built in 98?

Can you not just wait until it doesn't need the SVA - it may not already if built before Aug 98.

Isn't that how it works?

You remove the radio as its a common fail point, as the buttons and edges protude.

I wouldnt attempt to fit any non-standard parts until after its been tested.
