Default De cat

Does anyone know if de-catting a 2004 wrx could lead to engine damage and if there will be a noticeable difference in performance without the cats

Dont know about damage but if you take the cats off you may aswell chuck your cd player in the bin too

If your cars for track use its worth doing but for road just get a cat back system

As stated, a decat is the way to go in terms of performance. The comments about the noise are rubbish. You'll notice a deeper tone but it is not a great deal louder. The backbox is key thing in terms of noise and an STI backbox will not be overly loud with a decat.

You do need to know a friendly MOT place or you need to replace your standard downpipe in order to pass an MOT on emissions. My first MOT next year with mine, so if it proves too much hassle I will go the PPP sports cat route.

It doesn't damage an engine either. Think about what you are doing - allowing it to breathe more freely. You may benefit from a remap though in order to get the full potential of the mod.
