After a noise which i originally thought was an exhaust blow had got worse over the last few days i decided to investigate what the problem was.

After 10 hours of stripping down the engine, fitting a new up pipe de-cat, and vf35 turbo, and re-building only to find that the noise is still there.

the noise is comming from the turbo area of the engine bay, i can't really put my finger on where it is. it's quite loud but i am begining to think it's not the exhaust, especially after changing what i have and fitting new gaskets.

Does anybody have any ideas what else it could be, or do i carry on as i am. Needless to say i am a little pee'd about spending so much time today with no result.

would a split boost hose make the noise like an exhaust blow??
You'll have to excuse my ignorance as i have only had the car 2 weeks and it is my first impreza.

Surely it would make more of an air noise than an exhaust blow, and if you rev the car it pops like there is an air leak in the exhaust.
I was just wondering whether it could be something more fatel, like something wrong with the block?
