Default Which Impreza for around 16k ?

Hi everyone, I used to drive a mate's R reg Sti about 6 years ago and loved. It's now time to get my own and wanna make sure I get the right one. I test drove a 55 plate blob eye (my favourite) STI PPP with 40k that cost 16k from a dealer. This car really impressed me and seemed an alright deal.

Just wanna know if there is anyone who really thinks I should for example:

go for much lower milage
go for the hawk eye (which i dont like the look of as much but if big power increase then maybe)
WR1??? (not a big fan of the colour)

Its not all about the power - its how these cars deliver the power that differentiate them from other cars. Would like to beat my mate's 335d though which after a remap is running about 360bhp and 450 lb/ft! That gets panned my my other mate's FQ-360 though.

If the blobeye is your favourite then go for that, but £16k is too much. Should be around £13k for a very good, low mileage example. £16k for a blobeye is WR1 money.

Like you I didn't like the colour of the WR1 so went for a hawkeye instead, but I like the looks of those. If I didn't I wouldn't have bought one.

With regards to modifying, you can actually get bigger bhp easier from the 2ltr engine. You get more torque and less lag from the 2.5ltr.

Yeah you are right obviously you should get the one you like the most - i just put that because i could definately like the hawkeye if it was much better, i just prefere the blob eye. What sort of mpg are you getting? I have a 330d and it doesnt get anywhere near the official figures. MPG is not really a problem, its just a bit annoying.

I was torn between a hawk eye sti, and a blob eye sti ppp. But ended up going for the WR1! Hopefully picking it up on friday. Wasn't to sure about the colour either but the more i see it the more i like it.
Yeh i was the same, thought i'd rather spend the same money on a WR1 rather than the blob eye ppp.Plus i wanted the 2ltr rather than the 2.5. Spent slighty less than 16k on it though.

Didnt like the colour of the WR1 in the photos of its launch but it looks much nicer in the flesh!

As said above, £16k is way overpriced. I bought my 05 STI with PPP in white (rare) with 9k miles on the clock 15 months ago for £16k.

Don't really know as Subarus don't have anything as technical as an onboard computer like most modern cars lol Don't ask...

I don't do a lot of miles, but I put £30 in every 3 weeks, occasionally 2 weeks. I do about 8000 miles a year on average. It also depends on how I drive, if I use all 360bhp then I will probably get about 10mpg I'd guess at 25-30 tops on normal driving. Slightly better after remap, was prolly around 20-25 before hand.

Get an STI it has a 6th gear which will save you a small fortune on motorway driving.

If you really must get one ( and everyone knows what I think) then don't buy a blue STI from a dealer. Get a Litchfield car or a white one or something different. At least that way some one will want it when you come to sell.

Given you said on another thread you are getting 27mpg out of your 330d you should expect 15mpg from the Subaru because you must be seriously thrashing it to get through that much fuel. About £70 every 175ish miles. Nice.

seriously i dont thrash it. On days where my journeys are 80% motorway 20% local roads I get 29 - 30 mpg tops.

Recently just driving local getting 24 mpg.

I have had a thorough service and nothing is wrong with it. That is the only thing that has disappointed me about the car.

I sold mine a few months ago for £13.6k with low miles and some bloody juicy bits on it. Stunning in black and to say it was just shy of 400bhp wasn't mega thirsty but then again I very rarely thrashed it.

Personally the blobs were getting quite common which was one of the reasons I sold it. I've gone for a white hawkeye now and have to agree with Blueblaster with his comments on colour.

If its just about beating the above cars ?? Look for an STI with an MD321t turbo fitted Its a sure fire way to embarras your mates FQ-360 but the only problem is finding the right car at the right price

Things might have changed recently but i was always told to stear clear of imports because of higher costs of repairs. More recently ive heard scare stories about stolen cars coming over, UK petrol not having the right octane, emmission laws etc.

Is any of that worth listening to? Is the Spc C the best of these Jap imports then? I heard it doesnt make the classic scooby sound though?

I would have though Subaru would have made an special edition impreza that was around 360 bhp standard - just for something to rival Mitzubishi????

Read about the preperation that someone like Litchfield imports do and that should answer any worries you may have.

The are very well respected here and in the industry.

(A re-mapped STI hawkeye will be something like 340 BHP from there)

I have a Spec C up for sale at the mo in the classifieds

http://https://www.scoobynet.com/pri...pec-c-ltd.html

Its a truly awesome car that is not being used and just cluttering up my driveway I will take an offer in the high £12k's which will leave plenty of money on your £16k budget for taking her to well over 400+bhp. As it stands she will give the Evo 360 a run and drop the BMW easily, and with 400+bhp she will leave them both wondering which way you went
