Default Confusion over standard power on import wagons

I've read on here that the standard WRX JDM ver 3/4 WAGONS have 215bhp, and have also seen that the standard JDM WRX STI of the same age has 280bhp?

Thats a 65bhp difference from WRX 1997 wagons to WRX STI 1997 wagons...is this discrepancy accurate? What differences do the 1997 ver4 WRX STI Wagons have with compared to standard WRX wagons to account for such a huge difference?

Which is correct?

sti's have a higher power output due to a different turbo and stronger internals (amongst other sti upgrades), to support that power hike.

Manufacturers figures are as I stated. Anything else is speculation.

So taking into account PS/BHP conversion, my wagon is a 300PS/296bhp version!...more than I'd realised!

highest factory out put of a classic is 276bhp...not sure where the 300bhp figure comes from unless its a typical post remap figure...

Ok...hmmm...anyway thats better than I expected!

If everything goes to plan with my car at the moment, I'll see what the power is when I get an Apexi Power FC and remap.

that's only if your wagon is an sti variant, otherwise it will have less...easiest way to solve this is for you to post your chassis number (or part of it anyway)

Applied Model Number. The chassis number doesnt identify the model, its a simple serial.

Engine code also helps to know what power plants in the car
