Gunk from halfords and a radiator brush,warm the engine spray on lashings of gunk,and get those hands scrubbing with said radiator brush,when happy all is scrubbed,jet wash off the engine(caution needed around the alternator/electrics)start engine to dry,mop up excess water with old rag,stand back and admire your handie work

engine bay is a piece of cake. take care with the intercooler, alternator, fusebox, maf and if you have an induction kit. get a good degreaser. megs super degreaser if superb and makes gunk look like washing up liquid.
spray the bay with the product and agitate with a brush, i use a tooth brush as it gets into the nooks and crannies. start the engine, the heat will healp to break down the grease.
spray it again and leave for a few mins. then wash off with hose or jetwash. leave the engine running to dry it off. this way you shouldn't end up with blown fuses, misfires etc. then mop up excess water or blow off with a leaf blower or air compressor.
treat plastics with something like 303 aerospace protectant. makes it look all good and clean:

just seems like every day i read a post about car care on the main topic area its normally replyed to by 10+ posts saying use t cut or WD 40.
its been a bad week what can i say...
loads of top advice and top people that are always fast to reply in the car care area (some have already post above) ????
