Question Folding mirrors

is mine broke or something, but only the passenger side mirror folds in, took the door cards off to look at the wiring, and the working side has 5 wires going into the connector for the mirror, but the driver side only has 3 and the other 2 are no where to be seen yet there are prongs on the connector for 2 extra wires

car in question Impreza WRX Jap spec 95 classic

thanks guys

cant remember about the wires your on about, but when i bought my 95 car, i had one that didnt fold.

they are more complicated than you`d think, basically, the switch isnt a power on/off switch like a normal switch, there is a constant live feed going to the mirrors, what stops them when they fold in a break in the copper swirl where the motor sits.

i spent hrs gettin mine working, fitted a new motor in the mirror that didnt fold, then took the rest of the day synchin up this copper swirl, very complicated.

from my poor memory, think the pin i had had 4 or 5 wires,3 att he top,2 at the bottom

Going with an above comment here:

I've got a MY99 typeR and it's got a switch to put one mirror at a time in. I dunno if your's has it because my, MY97 WRX had electric mirrors but I can't remember if it had the fold one at a time switch. If yours has try doing that before investigating further.

If that don't work try looking for the whole wiring loom coming from the drivers side mirror and chase it down to the motor, if there's two wires that aint connected then connect them to the two spare slots in the mirror. Then that should be it.

Hope it helps.
