have you made sure the fog is working, the fog may have failed due to the bulb not working, just a thought ,garage i would say is having a laugh tho and may of wanted to try and make a bit of money. there is a few garages out there who try it on, do you use this garage all the time or is it the first time

we aint all bad, take offence to comments like that as all garages aint out to rip people off! the o/s/r fog should work even if the n/s is working, if it's an import it wont have the wires running to the lamp
i can find out about the co if you want?

Assuming that it was made before September 1995 (and it is a JDM) then you dont have to pass a cat test. If they argue, request that the the tester calls the VOSA helpline and they will explain. The MOT tester should know though. Someone will be able to post the flow chart Im sure: you could print that, as its a scan of a page from the testers manual. If they refuse then complain to VOSA: harsh but it serves them right

I had the same problem with a tomcat turbo that failed . if you tell the mot station the engine has been replaced with an earlier one it should be classed as the lower emissions (eg pre cat).

Hey Simon(GC8)

Is this the Flowchart you mean?

http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosacorp/repo...01992-2002.pdf

My May 1995 WRX failed its MOT this year for emissions. Just checked the Gas Analysis fail sheet and looks like they may have used the wrong test.

Yes, thats it. Few testing stations seem to be familiar with this page of the manual.

Ok thanks Simon

What happened was: I took my car to a local garage/mot test station where I have my other vehicles serviced/repaired etc. I know the guy and he has a reputation for being quite strict come MOT time but I go there because he is very thorough when he services which is important. Anyway, he rang me saying he was really struggling to get my Scoob through on omissions and suggested I perhaps take it to Scoobyclinic to see if they could sort it, which I did and SC did.

I rang the guy at the garage, as by the looks of the analysis sheet they used the wrong test, and he is not aware of the flowchart but is going to look into it and get back to me.

Thanks for the information

Mick
