just been down to lancaster in pangbourne.
had a test drive in the new sti type uk, it is absolutely awesome, just cannot describe the experience.
salesman (vaughan) took me out first round their test route and really put the car through its paces.
think i will have to start saving up, must have one.
apparently they can supply one immediately in wr blue.
I WISH!!!!!!!!!! I could get one now.

if you think its suspicious then thats your opinion.

all i would say is at least they could be bothered, they knew i had only just bought my first scoobie (thats why i am a new member)
and had no intention of buying an sti yet.

i did,nt get taken seriously at the other two garages , probably
cos i am female.

seems like there are quite a few cynics on these boards!!!

sasman,

I don't think you're in any position to comment on other people's English.

Quote from your post - 'Your up early, you at work'

Shouldn't that be 'You're up early, you at work?'

Sorry to be pedantic, bad grammar is one thing, but then berating someone else for theirs can not go without comment!

Regards,

tiggers

Oh Yeah, one more thing. Teacherbabe if you do get an STI I don't want to hear any more moaning from your profession about salaries as if you can afford to buy and run one you must be on a good whack, and don't forget the 13 weeks holiday a year and the 6 hour day.

Anyway what sort of profession has a trade union? You teachers seem to want the best of all worlds - industry pay for part time hours and being called professional whilst having the benefits of trade union protection.

Regards,

tiggers.

Tiggers - just trying to put the record straight. About 10-15 years ago teaching received such bad press (easy target as everyone's an expert) and there were some "teachers" who were in the wrong job, that the whole profession was turned inside out and the increased accountability and subsequent paperwork has made the job totally different now. At last the government and even the press accept that the profession is overstretched and over loaded with paperwork. The idea that we work a 6 hour day etc indicated a lack of appreciation of the reality of the job.
Teachers are generally not superintelligent or they would not be in such a poor career choice. However, as I have an engineering degree and also spent several years working in industry, I am not totally without knowledge what its like in the so-called real world.
Hope this helps to balance your opinions of teaching.
Stan

Oh dear teacherbabe, i wasn"'"t putting it in stone, just wondered if a sales man was pulling a fast "DUMB" one. As I was sure I saw a post about the same subject. I am now slightly more convinced as your backer "frankiev" seems to have the same grammar afliction as you. Now thats strange.

Talking

Do youselves a favour and get a P1 - driven the STi UK - P1 spanks it to within an inch of it's life IMHO.

Looks better, sounds better, goes better, handles better, much more exclusive etc etc.

My two euros

Yes, I do own a P1

Jimbob, Not sure about your comments there, Looks better (is a matter of opinion, Sounds better (Probably sounds almost identical), Goes better (These cars haven't even been run in properly yet, although yes the P1 is 14BHP more), Handles better (maybe although I don't believe you, But with the STI you will get the added advantage of not scraping your front bumper . Don't get me wrong I love the P1 and now that you can pick them up for a reasonable price they are worth it, but you've got to remember that new they were £6,000 more then the STI. When I get a new Subaru I'll be going for the STI, better brakes as well. Just another 2 half years to go in till I can exchange.

Ummm sasman well spoted it,s very interesting how frankiev,s posts and teacherbabe,s posts both have the same afliction as our very own vaughanyboy alias Mr King.

hi steve , come on down and we,ll talk BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!
Perhaps by coincidence they both have the same keyboard mapping problem as me but at least teacherbabe has at least got some discussion going on the STi unlike frankiev who is blatently plugging the dealership

try lancaster in pangbourne via subaru.co.uk

Tiggers - good to see ignorance is still alive and well on this BBS. Typical working week for average teacher is 50-60 hours. After the stress of "teaching" some of the "well bought up" (not) little ****es that are a result of negligible parent input, the first week of any "holiday is recovery to try to become human again. Then there is all the paper work needed to keep up with all the wonderful government guide lines and new initiatives so you don't get too far behind for the next Ofsted. Having such a long time as pure "holiday" would be wonderful.
Why are so many teachers leaving ? Why are new teachers leaving in such numbers if its such a doddle ? Why dont you have a go if you think its so easy ?
The government now recognise that the workload is unacceptably high and hopefully we will get down to the "normal" hours that most people work - unlikely the 35 (?) hour week as in Scotland. Still 50-60 hours is better than the 110 hour week I worked when I owned a hotel/restaurant !
Rant mode off. After 30 years of having similar remarks made - it does get a bit irritating !

Stan,

You say that after 30 years of having similar remarks made - it does get a bit irritating. Well there's no smoke without fire is what I say - if you have had those remarks for thirty years you might want to ask yourself why?.

Oh, of course it's all just ignorance on the part of people like myself isn't it. Yes I'm ignorant because I'm not a super intelligent teacher (why do you all think you are so superior just because you teach?).

Well in my experience while some of you probably do work long hours there's a lot of you that don't. Maybe you are one of the few in which case fair play to you (although some may say you're a mug). As far as why so many teacher's are leaving, that is an easy one to answer. It's probably mainly down the the propaganda and rhetoric put about by your wonderful teaching unions.

I work in the manufacturing industry (you know the one that Margaret Thahtcher managed to turn into a dirty word) and I'm not saying it's necessarily any harder or easier than teaching, but at least I don't stand around moaning about it all the time. I'll hold my hand up and say I couldn't teach kids even if I had ten years training - I just don't have it in me, but then again you probably couldn't do my job (Oh hang on that's where I'm wrong isn't it? You are a super intelligent teacher so you could probably do my job blindfold with your hands tied behind your back)

Rant over

sasman,

Sorry for hijacking the thread - only having a bit of fun regarding the English thing.

Kindest regards,

tiggers.

Geeezzz - some people

The poor woman only asked for an opinion not a debate on the pay, working conditions or hours of teachers or the manufacturing industry.

Why can't people give a straight answer on here

Teacherbabes - you want one you get one

Edited to say - if she is one of the sales people it doesn't mean YOU have to run out and buy one
