Default usual PPP insurance grief.......

I'm looking to PPP my WRX 06 and of course it has to be insurance listed as separate mods.

OK so as sepatates to the muppets at the insurance company

chip + exhuast and what else???

What effect does the "uprated intercooler hose" have.

Is there some helpful wording that smooths the way?

i had to break mine down into engine chipping (10-20% power increase) and exhaust system. Didn't mention the intercooler hose.

Tell them its a dealer fit performance upgrade option.

You could always send them the prodrive documentation.

I had an initial Discussion with my insurance company and they accepted the exhaust and chip but then told me it involved a new panel filter which isn't the case.

Decided to ask advice as the Prodrive pdf on the Subaru web site mentions this new hose. Is it a performance increase or does it just look good?

Cheers

Just deal with a specialist like A-Plan or Keith Michaels. Never ever go to the well known idiots like Norwich Union etc, unless you drive a micra or similar. They only interested bog standard shopping trolleys and they don't speak very good English when you call India.

As above, PPP is not a problem with one of the specialists.

Look harder, most insurances do have a PPP WRX impreza listed.
I made the same error for a while trying to get a quote for a modified WRX.

Enter your plate, then when ask if this is your car, say no and find in the list a "WRX 265". This is your PPP. (There also is an entry for the STI PPP)

My insurance is tesco and has it, but when I was looking for a quote, 90% of main insurer also had the 265 version listed!

The price of insuring the WRX or WRX 265 is usually the same. So make sure you do it like that.

They only list the 261bhp version for MY05 WRX's for some reason. (well, they do on the system i use anyway)

I did look on the thatcham web site at the insurance codes (ABI) and there is no listing for WRX prodrive. This lists every Subaru ever made.

I emailed them and got a reply but it was hopelessly wrong.

Deep joy

I just rang you for a quote and was told you weren't in until tomorrow. If you're on holiday - then get outside, the weather is lovely

IIRC, PPP used not to be recognized as an "official" dealer upgrade and had to be insured as after-market. Then, circa 2006, thanks to Mike Wood and colleagues at Prodrive, it got registered with the body governing UK motor insurance as official and since then it has been much easier and cheaper to insure via Keith Michaels (aka Moley WRX!), A-Plan (at Thatcham, NB) and other specialists.

A seach on here for posts by MW should produce the relevant thread.

My insurance went DOWN when I had PPP fitted thanks to a local broker that knew the right companies to talk to, saved me about £75 a year

In 2005 you had the choice of 3 years free servicing or free PPP with your new car. Hence it was then listed as a "standard" model from new.

That's what I did when getting a quote to change my Insurance over from this Saturday they asked if it was the 225 or the 265 version, So I just told them it was the 265 version. That's with Esure. But the car did have it fitted from new if that makes any difference?

I'll be looking round come January for a more competitive quote.
