Default Help! Something wrong?

I posted on here recently about my car making slight squeaking/screeching noises when I apply the brakes.

Today, as I was slowing down, I heard the driver side front wheel make a very unhealthy squeak, and then a little "ping" noise.
Stopped the car, then drove on as normal and it was fine and didn't hear the same noise again.

Got home amd checked the brakes...
Seems like a metal strip is bent out of place... are they meant to be like this? Would explain the little ping noise I heard.

The car in question is a 2006 WRX

It is supposed to be like that but both sides should have it so looks like you have one missing (don’t think it will go in backwards think its called anti squeal shim ) may explain the squealing. Check the one with it missing to make sure both the pad retaining pins are in you can see just see the top pin on your photos. Just order one from the dealer no big deal aslong as both pins are in.

Also check your pads aren’t low as most STD pads have a metal strip that touches the disc to let you know they are low
