Can anyone let me know how much I should expect to pay for the 15,000 mile service?

Cheers

Can't remember exactly, but I think it was around £200 incl VAT and 10% SIDC discount at Cheam Motors.

Check your handbook and compare the 7.5K against the 15K. I am sure that they are the same

I am assuming yours is a UK car of recent vintage

Mine is due soon so I also would like to know - is it the same as the 7500?? I thought it was a major service?? with more done than the 7500?

£170 would seem right if it was a major

22500 would be the same as the 7500 ie.£100

Have a look at this link courtesy of the SIDC FAQ section, The whole thing is worth a look, very informative and well written.

I was about to ask Paul where he got his car serviced!!

The 15K is a bigger service than the 7.5K. Roughly 2 hours as opposed to 1 hour for the 7.5K. My 15K service also included a wheel tracking check, so the price of £170+VAT sounds about right.

Cheers

Looks like the changing of the spark plugs is the only difference between 7500 and 15000 miles - would be cheaper to change the guard!!!

Cool

Don't think they change the spark plugs as part of the 15,000 mile service. I think the only difference between the 7,500 and 15,000 mile service is that in the 15,000 mile service they spend another hour "checking" things (i.e your car is parked while the mechanics have a cup of tea). So basically all that is involved is an oil/oil filter change and you giving the dealer £200.....

How do they make a profit????

Oh don't forget the useless body inspection too to keep your waranty. Thats another 100 odd quid...

Red face

Hi Guys
I checked the service manual just today, it would seem that they do? change the plugs on a 15k service, and like someone said 'check a load of other stuff'.
Enjoy

Got a warranty book in front of me.

The only difference between the two services are that the coolant, coolant hoses, fuel lines, air filter, emissions and diff fluids are checked.

We do these at every service anyway.

What is done at 15k or more importantly, 1 year, is the body service. Depending on the dealer this is between £75 and £150.

Plugs are only changed at 30, 60, 90... k miles.

Well, now this is interesting, my book open right here in front of me states that the spark plugs ARE replaced at 12months/15,000miles

The other items in addition to the 7500mile are:-

Cooling system - Inspect
Fuel System - Inspect
Air Filter - Inspect
4-Gas analysis - Inspect
Trans and Diff oil - Inspect
Axle shafts and boots - Inspect
Brake linings - Inspect
Clutch - Inspect
Steering/Suspension - Inspect

Spark Plugs - REPLACE

Pete

Edited to say that I have just seen a page at the back of the book saying that on Turbo models the plugs are only replaced at 30K. so, it would seem that if you have a Turbo its new spark plugs at 30K otherwise its 15K - which makes the 15,000 mile service a rip-off at twice the price of the 7500 !!! I will check the Inspect things and tell them they are ok eh?? what a racket!!
