Sti 1/4 mile times classic and newage?
Guys, I was under the impression that something like a standard classic STi 5 Type R would do a 12.7 ish standing 1/4. One of the chaps in my gym said that any stock STi would struggle to crack 13 seconds.
Does anyone know the stock times for classic STi`s including the Type R/RA's
what about newage times with PPP?
Even better if anyone has actually been down the 1/4 in their own car what times are you getting?
Only looking for standard times or very lightly modified.
Thanks.

Just remember that Prodrive 0-60 claims are seldom replicated by independant testers although it certainly wouldn't suprise me if the P1 would do the claimed 12.8. I can't really comment on the STI but they are very similar to the P1.
The guy at the gym, is he an Evo owner? lol

Thanks guys.
bob r, funnigly enough he has owned a couple of classics and used to run them up the strip. This is what caused me to question the times in question and see if i could find any real world evidence.
daz wrx, LOL @ the commentry on the vid, I take it the P1 is slightly fettled with? if its standard powerwise im gonna go celebrate with a pint lol.

Was fairly standard really, filter and exhaust.... was a very hot day too. Just wish i had done a run with the FMIC and Apexi on it, may have shaved it to mid 12's?

I'm going to run my car at SSO next year to find out for definate but I would be hoping for mid to low 13s from my hawker. It is virtually standard, running 40bhp over the PPP.

However evo magazine did a test in 2004 with a bunch of blob sti's from the PPP to tsl333 all the way up to a 400bhp rcm machine. just a few numbers plus a few others.
2004 ppp 13.7s
TSL 333 13.6
Gforce 2 12.8 355bhp 335lbft
Gforce 3 12.7 400bhp 360lbft
RCM 12.5 437bhp 390lbft bugeye
WR1 13.7s
P1 13.7s
2004 spec c 13.0s litchfield 335bhp 280lbft
2005 type 25 12.8 350bhp 356lbft
Answers your question a bit i hope. Not something that matters much to me personally, especially when you look at the T25 through the gears, 4th 70-90mph in 2.6s, unreal!

I wondered the same thing 172sport, but the Type R will do about 106mph in 4th so should be just about OK. Unless a P1 can do the same in 3rd which I doubt.
I found the close ratios in my Type R didn't really help as in 3rd and 4th, by the time the turbo had spun up between gear changes you only got about 2 seconds of acceleration before it was time to do it again!

I change @ 8k and when im in the next hear im at 6.5k still on boost.
