Sti 1/4 mile times classic and newage?
Guys, I was under the impression that something like a standard classic STi 5 Type R would do a 12.7 ish standing 1/4. One of the chaps in my gym said that any stock STi would struggle to crack 13 seconds.
Does anyone know the stock times for classic STi`s including the Type R/RA's what about newage times with PPP? Even better if anyone has actually been down the 1/4 in their own car what times are you getting? Only looking for standard times or very lightly modified. Thanks. |
hmm after doing a bit of research am seeing low 13`s, im sure im always seeing the 12.7 figure branded around for a type R though??
|
I have an STI 5 Type-R run a 13 flat last year, never been down before tho, i reckon i can break into the 12's
Mines standard appart from turbo back 3" system (311bhp) |
thanks m8
anymore guys? |

anymore guys? i have a v5 sti just had a filter n cat back and ran a 13.3 with a slipping clutch and it wasnt mapped |
I was under the impression that the P1 does the 1/4 mile in 12.8?
|
I was as well, along with a type R running a 12.7 but guy at the gym was so confident they wont break 13 secs. Ive never been to any run what your brung days at the pod etc so all my info is kind of internet warrior lol. This is why just what to see what people in real world are getting.
thanks. |
Just remember that Prodrive 0-60 claims are seldom replicated by independant testers although it certainly wouldn't suprise me if the P1 would do the claimed 12.8. I can't really comment on the STI but they are very similar to the P1.
The guy at the gym, is he an Evo owner? lol |
The Type-R will do a quarter mile faster thn a P1 cuz it has a closer ratio gearbox.
Also my car is not remaped either, just runnin it on V power. |

My old near enough standard TypeR v5 did 13.3.
Will let you know on the newage in a couple of weeks. :) |
Thanks guys.
bob r, funnigly enough he has owned a couple of classics and used to run them up the strip. This is what caused me to question the times in question and see if i could find any real world evidence. daz wrx, LOL @ the commentry on the vid, I take it the P1 is slightly fettled with? if its standard powerwise im gonna go celebrate with a pint lol. |
Out of interest, what would a standard blob STi do the 1/4 mile in?
|
Yes, id like to hear some times that people have actually done in a blob eye STi as well.
Gaz when i was searching last night i found times around 13.3-13.5 |

Was fairly standard really, filter and exhaust.... was a very hot day too. Just wish i had done a run with the FMIC and Apexi on it, may have shaved it to mid 12's? |
An STi5R is quite capable of making mid 12s with an exhaust and boost controller
|
Classics that run nearly 300+ bhp will get into the high 12 second 1/4 mile. Newage(300bh ) I would think maybe mid 13 seconds

I've seen a best motoring vid of a standard V2 RA doing 12.8
|
I'm going to run my car at SSO next year to find out for definate but I would be hoping for mid to low 13s from my hawker. It is virtually standard, running 40bhp over the PPP.

The americans have a section for this alone.

Not something that matters much to me personally, especially when you look at the T25 through the gears, 4th 70-90mph in 2.6s, unreal! |

I wondered the same thing 172sport, but the Type R will do about 106mph in 4th so should be just about OK. Unless a P1 can do the same in 3rd which I doubt.
I found the close ratios in my Type R didn't really help as in 3rd and 4th, by the time the turbo had spun up between gear changes you only got about 2 seconds of acceleration before it was time to do it again! I change @ 8k and when im in the next hear im at 6.5k still on boost. |

The Spec C is 13 secs @ 108mph, thats the jap map at 276bhp btw ;) those are subaru's own figures. Tony:) |

Interesting as my standard Litchfield MY06 Type 20 JDM STi (not Spec C) 350bhp did 1/4 mile in 12.65s at Elvington Scooby shootout  Tony |
I think some of those figures are a bit slow...
In my old 2004 wrx, full decat, ported headers, lightweight flywheel, NO REMAP, nothing stripped out. I got 13.2 @ 102mph.. and that was at the pod |
