Default Spongey brakes on my uk turbo 2000

Hi,

i have recently replaced the brake pads and the brakes feel tighter and it does stop quicker admitidley.

Having said all that i have to push down quite a way to get to full stopping power.

Is there anyway of tighteningn that up?

thanks.

Yes.

And if your discs were worn then you'll find that the pads will take longer to bed in because they have to bed into all the grooves instead of a flat face.

I'm glad you asked this as the same has happened on my 1999 impreza. Pad change and now the spongy feel. I thought i could get away without bleeding the brakes.

I need to know the process too

you should actually change the fluid.

And to be perfectly honest, It's **** of a job.

Unless you go and by a gunsons easy bleed kit.
It's a piece of **** then.
Instructions are in the box..

If you don't know how to bleed the brakes I would give it to someone who can, to be honest ....... you don't want to get the brakes wrong on one of these cars!

TBH, mines are the same.
I've changed the discs, pads, reconditioned the calipers with new seals, changed the fluid and brake line and bled the system and they are still spongey.

I just gave up and push the pedal a bit more. No way I'm changing the master cylinder.

The Gunsons kit I purchased did not fit the Subaru master cylinder. No need to buy one of those really anyway. A normal bleed kit with a one way valve is more than enough for the job. Only thing to watch for is to make sure you do not empty the reservoir and push air into the system. Keep it topped to the fill line with your new fluid and watch for the new fluid entering the bleed kit bottle.
