If you could choose a road to close, which one would it be?

If you had the chance to have a stretch of road closed off just for you for half a day, which one would it be ? I myself love the Basingstoke to Alton road, its brillaint, twist n turns all the way, you can go as far as the French Horn pub, have a coke (diet of course) and then do it all again, all the way home.. I suppose its about 20 miles in total.

with TT now being upon us the mountain section is one way from 2:00 p.m on Sat 24th through till 10:00 a.m. on Mon 9th June. Not quite closed but as close as I will ever get I should think un less I get a job with Top Gear or something
will make sure I get some blasts in either early in the morning before the bikers are out or late at night once they are all getting drunk

Anything with a good selection of straight bits for flat out speed, and wiggly bits and hills for pleasure. Some of the roads up around the Cairngorms, Speyside or Oban, where I haven't been for years. Something with character, motorways and dual carriageways are BORING. French autoroutes are better, as they have less junctions and less traffic, at least on the péage sections and get you where you need to go in a good time. And the "N" and "D" roads are nice, especially further south. Gorges Du Tarn area, or Vaucluse/Provence. Anywhere where I don't get to see myself going the other way after 30 minutes! It's 25 miles or there abouts around the outside of Guernsey, so maybe that's why I love driving so much when I'm away from home.

Great question, I've been thinking about this for a while and I think there are a few urban roads which you can't drive quick on normally which would be fun. I'm thinking mainly of the A2/A12 from Eltham area of SE London, goes through the Blackwall Tunnel and up to the M11.
There are some good straights, long sweepers, tighter bends and lots of tunnels (even the tunnels have great corners).
I dream of blasting along here every time I trundle along its speed camera hell at 42mph.

Either the A4069 from Llangadog to Brynamman, S Wales. Beautiful country road that then climbs up through a series of hairpins and cut backs to the top of the west end of the Brecons and the blasts down to Brynamman through long straghts and sweeping corners. Every time we go to Rally GB I make sure the route passes along there.
OR
The Drive from my in-laws house Barnstaple, to Our place in Plymouth. B2323 on to the A386 from Torrington to Plymouth. Cracking sweeping country roads with a a few long blasts and tight sections thrown in; usually buggered up by Grockle boxes (caravans) or granny out for a Sunday drive @ 50 on the straights and 10 in the corners. This I get to drive at least once a month

The A714 Newton Stewart to Girvan in Ayrshire.
Hell of a road plenty of bends, some sharp and some where you can give it some beans, not forgetting the straights with the dips in it.
Its the closest i have come to almost making myself car sick and totally worth it.

Oxford street London. Imagine the loitering that could be done! haha
As for driving roads, any country lane that is a few miles long
Or the M1 for a top speed blast
