Default Kin stupid loud exhaust

I have just replaced my standard sytsem with a H+S Jap style straight through system which was quite loud and throaty which I like.

Today I put on VF28 turbo and 3" bellmouth decat down pipe. On tickover there is more of a harsh, crude sort of sound to the burble, but when revved the noise is stupid.

I have always liked noisey exhausts but this is mental. Perhaps it will grow on me.

Or perhpas not

Has anyone else got a similar system?

Trouble is, you now need to consider the annoyance value to the neighbours?

That's my main concern. The car is a weekend toy but even so I don't know if I can live with it..........and that's saying something.

I am just wondering wether the future remap may assist in the noise levels as it is obviously running rough at the minute?

I admire your optimism

I am running a 3" turbo back Apexi decat system on a 1995 STi it doesn't get any quieter after the remap. Maybe more consistent but the base line won't change After the decat it is louder than my Blitz NurSpec S on the new age. I have found the exhausts on the classics to be generally louder.

Some pics or video clips are needed.

I've got a 3" straight-thru, custom-made. That's pretty loud. Not heard a louder one yet.

I had a full 3" H&S jap system on mine at one point.
I hated it. It was stupid loud, failed every noise test at every track and genrally sounded sh1te IMO.

I have a custom Simpson system on it now with GT spec headers and its very quiet.... love it.

Call em up and ask them to make you a bung.

I have there 3inch system and after a week went back and got them to make me a bung. Now only on drive outs with friends does the bung come out.

Makes the car so nice to drive on motorways with it in all so

Not a lot of point if the DP is a 2.5" connection. I am running it on an unresonated 2.5" sports cat system ATM 335-350bhp. The box pipe connects at 2.5" into a megaphone design ending @ 3" into the back box, so you would need the SpecR to attempt an almost 3" system.

my down pipe is 3 inch an i would be modifying the the pipe goin into the back box to 3" anyway if its not as loud as i would like that is if it is then it will stay the same

i got an h and s system on mine with decat which is 3 inch decat pipe going to a 2.5 system and 4 inch back box and mine is loud, everything vibrates on idle and there aint much out there apart from custom ones that are any louder, plus mine sounds soo much better, getting a set of stainless headers soon as well, should be interesting.

That's not loud. Sounds a bit tin-ey too. Bit like a ninja.
