Thumbs down Bugger i think my scoobs running lean :(

My 96 WRX hasn't been running right for a few days now nothing major really just not sounding right and not behaving properley.

I noticed on the way home from work (mway) that my AFR gauge was just reading the 4 odd red lights on Lean and not going up to rich when boosting as normal now it still pops and gives the odd bang when i lift off just like it always has so surely it's still running a bit rich??

If it is running lean i take it would be a bad idea to keep driving her?? What could be the problem?

I'd have put this in technical but it's a bit of an immediate problem

Forgot to add it's decatted and running an FMIC but i've always used booster..mind ypou i ran out of the 10 bottles i had of Millers last fill up and used the STP i used to use before that instead..that be it?

MAF?

Have you an aftermarket Induction System on?

Dis-connect the MAF Connector and see if it makes a difference (it should run worse!) ..... if it makes no difference then I would suspect that.

Where did you get your last batch of petrol from?

I sometimes get this when I use Tescos99

Mine runs fine when I use Vpower but ran like a dog when I used T99

Obviously mapped for VP

I've always used V power mate and it's always ran fine i've got a feeling it must be the fact it was used to the millers and i've put the STP in and it's thrown a wobbler but how do i sort it??

I've just filled it up with BP Ultimate as it's only over the road from our new house to see if that does any good.

Yes and no. if the pump stops altogether then yea the thing wont start. If it pumping fuel but is lazy,It may not be pumping enough at high revs etc.

I had this on a walbro. knocklink in my case going crazy. Had it checked by my mapper and not enough fuel pressure on high load

The lambda only works up to about 3,000rpm, I believe.

Mine was found to be running lean when JGM came to do a remap, he said it was the fuel pump. They can still pump fuel but not so good when on boost

Mine did the same. But being a UK spec I mostly run it on cheap (thats a laugh) pump fuel and just use V power every now and again.

Still ran fine.
Same fuel economy.
But wouldn't even get to Stoich on my FR gauge.
Scared the **** out of me!

Lambda sensor Fubared.

I mentioned the MAF may be the issue in Post 4 ... but pathetically I am having my posts put on auto ignore

Disconnect the MAF and see if it runs differently (it should) ..... if it doesnt - suspect that.
