Different turbo should do it, and possibly an STI intercooler. Look to VF34/35 or TD05-16G turbo's IMO. Used from about 200'ish.
You'll also need either different injectors or an adjustable fuel pressure regulator (I'd go for STI pink injectors). You will also need a new fuel pump.

When you list full Magnex de-cat does that include the up-pipe??
If not get a replacement up-pipe without a cat (aftermarket or STi item).
Currently running 280BHP on my MY03 WRX with mods listed on profile, have since added STi 8 TMIC and have STi Pink injectors waiting to go on with a very low mileage VF35 which should see me to about the 320 mark.
So yeah, you will need Walbro 255lph fuel pump, injectors and new turbo minimum (along with decat uppipe if not already) and an STi TMIC isn't going to hurt either.

Uprated fuel pump
STi pink injectors
Ported and wrapped headers (not required but will help with spool and liberate a few more ponies)
VF34/35 turbo
STi intercooler
Remap
Should see a comfortable 320 if not more!

Surely cheaper just to buy an STI in the first place
Oh, and don't forget to upgrade the brakes and suspension if putting out 320bhp IMHO.

Yeah but you can get 320 out of an STI much cheaper (i.e. a sports cat and a remap). I spent under £1k and got 360.
The WRX is not set up for these sort of power levels so take more modding. I personally wouldn't run 320 on standard wrx brakes. You need brembos at least.

But you are forgetting the £4k higher price tag to begin with, plus the extra road tax, insurance, petrol etc
I agree with the brakes comment but a lot of people moan about the Brembos and the standard suspension too so why bother with the STI? He needs to get on the K-Sport group buy

Hmmm it's an interesting one...
I know a lad who has modded a WRX Hawkeye to more bhp but slightly less torque than mine, or is it the other way around anyway, it's a cracking car and he's modded it correctly upgrading the suspension, breaks etc etc as well as the engine. He said he should have bought an STI due to the money he has now spent.
It's a popular misconception that WRXs are cheaper to insure, there really isn't much in it and if you mod a WRX to STI levels then you will probably be paying more with all mods declared.
I'm not sure on the old road tax one, are they not all expensive now?
Anyway, we digress from the OPs question, but I think have opened an interesting debate. Do you get DCCD in a WRX? The gear box is down to preference of a 5 or 6 speed I suppose... Could you buy a WRX and mod it to exactly the STI spec for the £4k difference? It would be crazy if you could from Subaru's point of view, wouldn't it.

i agree on the brake situation as with 280 bhp there sh*t
but want to get engine done 1st....
im lookin at andy forest to do the remap just need to source the parts

Well, my advice would be to sort your brakes and suspension first. Otherwise you may drive your spanking new turbo, injectors and fuel pump etc into a tree and we don't want that.
I know it's tempting to do the engine first as that's the fun bit, but you need solid foundations first IMHO. What's the point of having 320 horses you can't use without potentially wiping yourself out?
With regards to Andy Forrest, you can't go wrong. I believe he can even advise and supply the supporting mods too?

I think the WRX road tax is going to be £130 cheaper than the STI from 2009.
I've found the WRX brakes to be pap when warm with standard hp! (Although to be fair i'm not sure what quality pads I have on at the moment), that's why i've ordered some 8-pots. I'm also getting it lowered soon too which will be nice. Once it stops and turns like I want I might think about making it quicker

Don't forget that a WRX is significantly lighter than an STI. 1380v1490kgs.!
Mine is lighter (~1350kgs) than standard and currently in excess of 340 (with AP's/AST's etc) and will out perform any STI with less than ~380..! On the road, it'll also worry a lot of much bigger HP scoobs, mainly due to the nature of the low down turbo response..
It's been at it's current level for over two years too, so there's no issue with reliability. It's a daily Driver too..!
Low level spoiler= 'it's only a WRX' just the way I like it..!

Just the VF35 and the usual supporting mods, nothing radical, just works well without any bottle necks..
Oh and reduce the weight as much as possible, which costs nothing..
I'm a big believer in addressing not just the usual mods, but also the little things that tend to eventually add up (and again cost very little). A bit of porting here, heat management there..etc..
Good regular maintenance, using quality products and running with some mechanical sympathy (warm up/down).
Also, I think I must have one of the better ones, ie not a Friday afternoon product..

You going the the SSO next week? I will happily run against you mate. I'll be there if you fancy it? Teach you a thing or two about the benefits of torque over BHP Oh and I don't even need a low level spoiler!

Pity really, as I'd like to see what exactly you'd be teaching me, other than how to wipe egg off your face..
Lol, seriously, if a well modded 06 spec C weighing ~1350kgs and with ~370/410 can't open up a gap during acceleration and after a few corners really struggles under braking, I doubt your 1.5ton 'D' would cause me any problems..
At the end of the day, you have ~240bhp/ton I have a touch over 250, so there's not enough in it to make a difference..
I'm not bashing STI's BTW, just stating facts, which a lot of STI owners convienently forget when they're bashing WRX's..!
The one thing I would like however, is a DCCD/A gearbox to play around with.. Note, not 6sp as IMHO the 5sp is ideal for the road..
