Pulsar GTIR?
What do you guys really think of the Pulsar GTIR?
Had a play with one the other day and he couldn't keep up with me on straights or round the twisties. I thought these were supposed to be decent?
Maybe old in the hat now?

if you have a standard scoob then it will stay with you and maybe close on the straights. However the scoob is better round corners and even on the brakes
I had uprated cams when I had one and I was faster on straights than a scoob

I had one sitting at 280bhp and it would beat standard classics. I had a classic at the time too, 274bhp, and it also felt faster than that.
Great little cars. Never had a single issue with mine, even thought about getting another one as a track car.
I envisage a GTi-R to be like a RA/Spec C type of subaru. Loud, noisey, raw.

GTI-R
Everyone will have had a different experience of course, but in a nutshell, I thought the GTI-R was a great little car.
I ran one for over three years @ 250bhp and although it is not as fast as my STI Type R (or as interesting!), I did find it had superb grip and it was awesome in wet weather conditions.
It was best ran on smaller alloys in my opinion and the standard brakes were dire. Build quality was also very poor: master cylinder, slave cylinder, CV boots etc were all prone to failure and mine done two clutches.
Never had any engine problems though and it was fast enough 5 or 6 years ago to see off a lot of other cars on the roads.
I wouldn't liken it to a RA/Spec C though. It wasn't that raw IMO; although they did produce a 'Dakar' rally version in Ivory white with close ratio box and lightened interior etc.

I had one and apart from a clutch it was fine. Was standard and I'm sure it was quicker than my mapped UK turbo.
When I had to sell it I took the pipe off that IIRC regulates the boost or summat. Was very quick but prolonged use like that will kill it very quickly.

Lol Gaz,
maybe its just me but arent you getting sick of stuff in Scooby general that have no relevance to scoobies, especially when there is a section already there for that.its not just this post but there are loads every day about crap that has nothing to dop with the actual subaru brand.
IMO of course.

I owned one and didnt think much of it. Cost me Ł500 in the first week of ownership - to replace 3 water hoses at the back of the block! Went downhill from there....knackered gearboxes, clutches.
Would never buy another one.
Thats the boost soleniod by-pass. Instantly get 1 bar of boost, (0.7 bar standard). Fueling is rich enough to run at that level of boost.

Three things.
1. When tuned to a fair size power 350+ fast as f--- in a straight line. Very quick
2. The drive trains cant take it. Chocolate gearboxes as a rule - sometimes the clutch
3. Not that well balanced - very front heavy.
(Seen one running good power that someone died in in the twisties )
Thats it.
So when tuned brutaly quick in a straight line but not a great performance car ´´package´´ if you see what I mean.
