Apprently V power isnt all up to whats its meant to be
My friend came across these links, quite intresting to read.
Super Unleaded Fuel - Toyota Owners Club - Toyota Forum
No Super-unleaded - Interesting result - Page 3 - GT-R Register - Official Nissan Skyline and GTR Owners Club forum
Tuning the LET - Fuelling
So the question is, do we use V power with "99 ron" or just stick with 97 ron super unleaded???

The debate over this will be endless and people will NEVER agree to one conclusion, it is that type of subject. I would expect this thread to open up a whole can of worms regarding this subject and be pages long.
Personally, I have ever and will ever only use V Power (and Optimax before it).

Most of VAG vehicles require the use of super unleaded or whatever fancy name they use, We have a lot of problems with vehicles using regular unleaded these are usually cars that have been run on this fuel from day one, Pinking is our main problem also NOX sensors in the exhaust coming up with sparodic faults, In my opinion using better octane fuel you will have less problems even though you may not get better BHP.

Quite a few of the top mappers commented, at the time of the change over from optimax-vpower, that they were typically seeing better results for cars mapped on v-power.
Obviously this is a car being mapped to the fuel, which is always going to be the best way to achieve optimum results..
As far as I'm aware all newage scoobs have a 'min 98 ron required' sticker on the inside of filler. My 05 does..

Try it and see, but should be ok as long as the car hasn't been mapped for vpower/millers..!
Petrol wise, it seems that some brands are more suited to scoobs than others. I know supposed tanker drivers will say that it's all the same, but you cannot deny the fact that BP Ultimate and scoobs do not get on well at all..!
If I ever have to use anything else other than vpower I would choose Esso SUL (or Tesco99- if I ever see it that is, as it only seems to be available in the SE..! ). Of the others, iirc Fina and Texaco aren't bad, just not as good as vpower, nor for that matter as bad as ultimate..!

I had a very light misfire on my car (tracked to an engine loom issues) on Tesco 97RON (no 99 in the Midlands - Boo) it was much worse than on Sainsbury's 97RON, while v-max almost completely eradicated it, this obviously has nothing to do with Octane rating, just igniteability though!

What about the fact V-Power degenerates with in a matter of days not months, and will have a lower ron once it has degenerated than normal 95ron
Where as BP Ultimate does not??

What im finding intresting is how some are against using BP ulitimate.I happened to just fill up on ulitimate sunday, because the shell garage was to much of a que.I thought rollocks to waiting in that..Happened to stop at the BP garage..I thought sod it ill use the ultimate,And omg what a difference..My scoob responded alot better using the ultimate, than the V Power.Im not talking a little better,It was alot better..I never really touch BP before as other people would also say to me,it's not as good..But im begining to think otherwise.I will fill up with it again Friday just to see if it is the same again..

Also if this degeneration is occuring,Why are there not all these highley tuned cars suffering engine damage due to the fact that after a coulpe of days there fuel is no longer as good as 95 ron fuel.Mine mapped to use v power quite often goes a couple of weeks between being used and have had no problems yet (TOUCHES WOOD), i really cant see this being true to be honest.

I filled up with Ultimate on the way home last weekend, I was getting low and couldnt find a Shell station, and on the BP, the car ran like a bag of spanners, lots of misfiring and hesitation. Got home, filled her back up on Vpower and she was back to normal.
